This week, the boxes and pallets of bling and books will descend upon the Westin Bonaventure Hotel for the RT Booklovers' Convention. At previous conventions, I've taken a peek at the prep rooms - it is truly a reader's dream to see books, books, and more books everywhere! And somewhere among the stacks I will find my friend, mentor, author, and SOS Military Mixer sponsor - Anne Elizabeth
Kim: You play a part at the RT Booklovers Convention- where will fans find you?
Anne Elizabeth: My first event is RT ADVANTAGE on Wednesday at 9:30 AM. Jade Lee and I run a fantastic workshop on HOW to make THE MOST of "YOUR" RT Convention. It is geared toward both first timers and veterans. Our purpose is to discuss optimal strategies for maximizing the RT experience. There's a lot of laughter, and we always have excellent prizes for those attendees who participate. Hint, hint! :)

The next event on my list is the Librarian/Bookseller Party - An Afternoon Delight. I am the organizer of the event, and my author hostesses this year are Angela Knight, Christina Skye, Kate Douglas, Delilah Marvelle, Jade Lee, C.H. Admirand, and Elizabeth Hoyt. Our signature touch on the party are our cakes which have our latest book covers on them.
Friday is Graphic Fair Day!
From 10-11 am, I will be teaching the "How to Write A Comic" Workshop with Les Dabel (Dabel Brothers LLC) and Alisa Kwitney (Award-winning author, comic creator, and former DC Comics Editor). We will be discussing craft techniques, and there are over eight prizes to win including the chance to score the new Stan Lee technique book.
From 11:15am-12pm, I am the moderator for Dean Koontz's Author Chat. Attendees please register in advance as they are limiting the session to 200 individuals. Afterward, he is having a limited signing for his audience.

From 1:30-2:30 pm, I am the moderator of the Female Creators Panel. Among the brilliant authors are Alisa Kwitney, Melissa de la Cruz, Kelley Armstrong, Holly Black, Cassandra Clare, Richelle Mead, and Jade Lee. Attendees should bring a business card or a scrap of paper with their name and email on it as we will be having a drawing.

From 2:45-3:45 pm, the "Graphic Novels: Artists & Authors" panel will be on! Gregg Hurwitz (author, comic writer, and television writer - yes, this is THE AMAZING MAN who has done INCREDIBLE things with the TV series "V"

Next is the E-Book Expo from 4-6 pm. Just like last year, there is a RT Collectible Graphic Fiction poster. So, come early to get your's signed by the whole crew - Jade Lee, LA Banks, Melissa de la Cruz, Cassandra Clare, Alisa Kwitney, Kelley Armstrong, Holly Black, Richelle Mead, Jade Lee, Gregg Hurwitz, and well, me! See you there. :)
My final events at RT will be on Saturday with the Giant Book Fair and the S.O.S. Military Mixer. Kim plans such a terrific military appreciation that it is an honor to participate and to support our troops. Hooyah!
Kim: You also play a part in helping military families - can you share some of your projects?
Anne Elizabeth: We are involved in the active duty and retired military community in a variety of ways. From helping veterans who are shut-ins to supporting our Wounded Warriors, the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, and the Naval Special Warfare Foundation. I write stories, we make baskets of books for fund raisers, cheer our active duty Teams on, and more. There is always a need for more help, books, funds, etc. Just not enough time in the day to do everything, but we do what we can.
By the way, if any authors out there would like to donate an autographed copy of their latest book to the "Author Basket for the West Coast Navy SEAL Reunion" please let me know. All funds go to the Naval Special Warfare Foundation.
Kim: What's on the horizon for Anne Elizabeth, the author and columnist?
Anne Elizabeth: The year is jam-packed with conferences. I will be attending RWA (Romance Writer's of America) in NYC at the end of June and look forward to time chilling out in romance writer mode. Next on the list is the San Diego Comic Con where I will be living the role of RT Book Reviews Columnist and Comic Creator. Last is the New York Comic Con where I will have my own booth: Author/Creator Anne Elizabeth and Book II of the PULSE series - THE PENDULUM - will be released. Yippee!!! Come visit me!

ReplyDeleteI so wish I was going to RT this year, but my hubs has a business trip planned for back east that week. *sigh* I'll be home with three kiddos! YIKES! I'll totally be wishing I was on Hawaii time by the end of it! ;)
My favorite afternoon delight is a NAP! If there is ever a chance I can score some Zzz's, then I'm usually hunkered down in my recliner with the baby.
