Renee is co-sponsoring the SOS Military Mixer at this year's convention in LA. I did not realize until she sent me photos of her dad that he served as a Navy Chaplain during the Vietnam War! From her bio,
Does anyone really read these things? I’ll pretend they don’t and say this. It’s very true that my father was a chaplain in the Navy and that he has sworn to never read a word I write (not that this keeps him from telling everyone he sees that his daughter writes romance novels that are too hot for him to read.) See the humor? If you’ve ever met me, or heard me on Tuesday nights on my internet radio show, “Canned Laughter and Coffee with Renee Bernard” that last bit makes a lot of sense.

My mother, however, does read my books. And while I find this far more frightening, it balances the universe out beautifully and makes me very grateful for that sense of humor mentioned above.
It’s also very true that if you’re not supposed to do something in search of a career in writing, I seem to have accidentally done it. Seriously, all the brilliant advice about not quitting your day job, etc.—those people know what they’re talking about! Not that I meant to quit my day job, but comedy abounds in my life and I’ve simply learned to embrace it.
To maintain my sanity, I write. In the files are romances of every flavor—contemporary, historical, science-fiction/fantasy, paranormal and yes, erotica. I’ve hidden away most of those manuscripts out of a true respect for the writers who know what they’re doing, but somehow the historical romances got out and now, I’m too happy to give it up.
Another truth: Yes, I can write scorching hot sex scenes and yes, I’m too shy to wear open-toed shoes in public. I didn’t say it made sense. I said it was true.

There. I think that says more about me than where I live or a list of my food allergies. (I don’t have any, but I keep thinking that perhaps that isn’t a good thing since being able to honestly say “She never met a food she didn’t like” doesn’t bode well.)
In any case, since you’ve read this far, I’ll just take the opportunity to say thank you. For reading and caring enough to take a look at that odd woman on the back cover. I’m truly grateful.
Renee, we salute your father and your family for their service! I also thank your extended family who continue to serve!

Hi Renee. I love that you are afraid to wear open toed shoes. I love reading your books.
ReplyDeleteA fun quirk about me is whenever I eat oatmeal I have to flatten it out so that it is all even and smooth. Then when I go to eat some I cut of a trianle out as if it's a piece of pie. Then I smooth it all out again. I also do this whenever I eat italian ices. I don't know why I do this or how it came about, but I just have to do this.
Funny tidbit about myself? Okay... my friends tend to laugh at me because I love making lists only book related.
ReplyDeleteYes I have a romance book list, fantasy book list, manga book list. I also have a To Be Read list, To be Want list. Quite many of my friends laugh when I say "Let me consult my list." It has not escaped their notice that I only make lists for books.
Another quirk... in the rp/writing world that me and two other people are creating, I save nearly "everything". I save their character intros. It's quite funny because my two friends will go "I can not find my info for so and so." And I end up finding it.
I love the family pic. Something funny(or weird) about me is that I always ask my friends or family the endings to movies I haven't seen yet. It doesn't bother me to know the twist or who the murderer is.
ReplyDeleteSomething funny about me (or maybe not) is that I never act my age. JodiT
ReplyDeleteSomething funny about me -- um um I love to shop and to my family and friends I'm known as the Queen of the Returns.
ReplyDeletePS Renee -- I love your books!
I could fill a page with all my quirks lol.
ReplyDeleteMy one quirk is I cant go into a room at night without turning the light on then I go back to the last room to turn off that light. DH put censers in all the rooms so I dont have to do that anymore.. ( fear of the dark as a child).
Have a good weekend.
Ann/alba
Something funny about me is that I hate having food too hot or too cold so when something is too hot, I stick it in the fridge for a few minutes. then I forget about it and it gets too cold...so I stick it in the microwave! lol..
ReplyDeleteI love getting to know authors and other people here on the net and in the blogs I frequent.
ReplyDeleteHmm, funny thing about me is well....I'm not a dog or cat person...but I love rats. I have 4 male rats right now and while I can't let a dog lick my face because it icks me out...I love getting ratty kisses. LOL *grins*
Thanks for a fun interview. I'm enjoying Renee's Jaded Gentlemen series.
ReplyDeleteSomething funny about me is I really don't like to shop, especially for myself. (Email in profile.)
I hate shopping---even for groceries.
ReplyDeleteI always hold my breath when I go through tunnels-- hey, it's supposed to be good luck!
ReplyDelete:-)
I have a thing for shoes, buying lots of em. My family used to tease me. I don't buy as much now since I have kids but now my kids have tons of shoes! LOL! I also hate standing in line at the grocery store. I sweat and start to get nervous especially if the person behind me keeps pushing to get their items on belt. I'm not sure if thats funny or just nuerotic. :D
ReplyDeleteI think it is funny how I know the small things like how many steps to our front porch, how many seconds to wait for the shower faucet to get warm, but I forget important things like hair appointments and my car keys! LOL
ReplyDeleteI'm just a funny person in general...not humorous funny, but plain old weird. hahah. For instance, I can't stand it when people use abbreviations or internet language when speaking verbally. It bothers me so much when people SAY "send me the form asap" or "lol -- nice job!" but I don't mind when they type it :)
ReplyDeleteStephanie
Thank you everyone!!! You're all so wonderfully quirky, I feel like we're friends! (I only hang out with quirky qualified people who might understand my weirdness ;-)
ReplyDeleteThank you again for reading the books and saying such nice things about the Jaded!!! I LOVE you guys!
I had to laugh about your dishwasher comment. I'm the same way. One reason for a happy marriage is that I'm the "loader" and hubby of 19 years is the unloader. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm obsessed with teddy bears - I have well over 200, although lately it's been sheep...
