Today is Super Tuesday with several anticipated releases, including Roxanne St. Claire's SHIVER OF FEAR (Book Two of the Guardian Angelinos series).
The legacy that haunts her . . .
The mystery she must solve . . .
A man who threatens to reveal her secrets . . .
and break her heart.
Burned by a failed marriage, former FBI agent Marc Rossi wants back in the investigation game with no emotional strings attached. Taking an assignment for his enterprising Angelino cousins, he heads to Northern Ireland to find Devyn Sterling, a widowed socialite and person of interest to the FBI. But when the ice queen he expects to find turns out to be warm, beautiful, and on a secret mission of her own, the job becomes a passionate reminder of what happens when duty and desire mix. The daughter of an infamous fugitive, Devyn Sterling has survived betrayal only to find that her mother has mysteriously disappeared. When her search uncovers secrets, lies, and threats, Devyn and Marc must trust each other when every instinct says they can't . . . and a terrorist wants to make sure they won't live to try.
I invited Marc Rossi to be my guest today.
Kim: Why did you join the FBI and why did you leave it?
Marc: I hate bad guys and I’m kind of protective. Mostly, as the second son of a big Italian family, I like to keep the peace. I left because…long story. (Something about when duty and desire mix…it can get ugly. And it did.) Someone would have to get very close to me to learn the truth and, frankly, I don’t let many people get too close.

Kim: As you headed to Northern Ireland, did you rely on any old contacts to provide intel about its volatility?
Marc: No, nothing like that. I went to Belfast on a simple assignment – to find Devyn Sterling, the widow of the victim on our last case. I expected a chilly rich bitch who I could make comply with my wishes. Man, was I wrong. I found someone warm, beautiful, and, um, not all that compliant. At least, not at first.

Kim: How did you know that you could trust Devyn on this mission?
Marc: I didn’t have a problem with trusting her, but she really wasn’t too keen on me. Dev’s got a long history of betrayal, including her recently murdered husband who really tried to wreck her life and an love-deprived adopted family that never made her feel worthy of their name or money. She’s slow to warm. But once she does…watch out.
Kim: Can you share a funny secret about one of your hot Angelino cousins?
Marc: Sorry, I can’t break a family pact. But I can tell you this…in four weeks, when FACE OF DANGER comes out, the world will know a whole hell of a lot more about Vivi Angelino than they think they know. My skateboard-riding, nose-pierce wearing, risk-taking little cousin has plenty of depth and a lot of secrets…some she never even told her family. The only person who can get them out of her is FBI agent Colt Lang. No surprise, we FBI guys can do anything.
Kim: What's next for your creator, Roxanne St. Claire?
Marc: Vivi’s book is up next on April 26. And then something completely different, I think. Roxanne’s been talking like a teenager, laughing a lot, and whispering about a young adult novel with a film deal attached. But she’s got to write my brother Gabe’s book, right? Can’t leave that bad boy without a happy ending. Watch for it.
Kim: You have been well received by reviewers, including Mary Gramlich, The Reading Reviewer. She posted her review of SHIVER OF FEAR on her blog:
Do we make ourselves who we are, or do we live out our DNA destiny?

Congrats tom Roxanne for her nomination for Edge Of Sight. I wish you much luck. I'm definitely going to have to start reading the Guardian Angelinos series. I loved the interview with Marc.
ReplyDeleteIn our family growing up with a big Italian family meals were like a huge production. My Mom and grandmother and Aunt would come over and they would cook enough food to feed everyone who came by besides the immediate family and believe me when I say we were at that table for hours.Laughter and great food are the best medicine for what ever ails you my Gram used to say.

Great interview! We have 14 or more for Sunday dinner every week. Kids come home from college with friends. Lots of family. We eat and play euchre for hours. Of course the kids use the washer and dryer. Do not enter me. JodiT
ReplyDeleteItalian dinners -- just bring your appetite. Being Italian I always make way too much food, I don't want anyone to leave hungry.
ReplyDeleteLove the interview with Marc and now I can't wait to read Vivi and Marc's story too.
Thank you, Kim! I keep trying to leave a comment, but am getting derailed by blogger! I love the contest about the Italian traditions! The last scene of SHIVER takes place on Christmas Eve, during the Feast of the Seven Fishes, a tradition we celebrate here annually. So much food and family and fun!
ReplyDeleteThanks for having me, er, Marc! xo
That was a great interview. Can't wait to read this book, it sounds great.
ReplyDeleteMy mom dated an Italian guy and the first time we went to his house for dinner I was speechless by the amount of peopel at the table and the amount of food being served. lol
We never did anything like that at our home. We would ahve a few family members come over for a regular dinner for Christmas and Thanksgiving...but this was all together something different and it was just another day to them. It was weird for me at first ebcause everyone was so boisterous and loud and talking and laughing when at my house everyone was so quiet. Quite a difference I'm telling you.
I know I can't enter in the contest, but I wanted to say hello to Roxanne. I love her books!
ReplyDeleteOh, I just have to laugh at Mary's comment. That is so true! And that is why the character in SHIVER is so enamored with the Angelino and Rossi family - she's never had anything like it. Boisterous. Yep. xo
ReplyDeleteA few years before I met hubby, I worked for an Italian Colonel at NATO in Germany. He was a widower, loved to cook, and invited American women to his house .... to speak English with his teenage chldren. OMG. I have have never eaten so much in my life. Luckily I lived around the corner from him so I could just waddle home from the pasta and wine.
ReplyDeleteOne year for "Carnival" break, another American and I accompanied him to Turin (where his mother lived) and Latina (where had had a home). In both cities we enjoyed "big Italian dinners" with his extended family who did not speak English. But once the wine started flowing, we somehow communicated.
Three years later, he attended my wedding in Washington, DC, with his girlfriend. She caught my bouquet! They were married a year later and spent their honeymoon touring the US - they visited hubby, baby, and me!
I loved Edge OF Site and hope it wins the Rita!! It was a wonderful book. Can't wait to read the Shiver!!!
ReplyDeleteMy step-father in law is Italian, so the mother in law fixes a lot of Italian dishes for Christmas, Easter, and little get togethers.
ReplyDeleteThrough them is how I got to tast Kolachi's which are great with cheese.
I've never had Italian until I met the hubby.. You sort of learn the quirks (BTW never ask an Italian to try a cold pasta, MIL learned that one
My family loves flea markets. We are always hoping to find that hidden treasure.
ReplyDeleteRocki, great looking book, can't wait to get it.
No Italian family here, but I've kept one tradition alive for my grown sons -- a Christmas stocking. Even when Santa stopped leaving gifts under the tree, he left a stocking with little goodies. I think it helps keep part of the magic of Christmas alive.
ReplyDeleteI think I need to travel to Italy where they appreciate older women. ~grin~

I cannot wait to read this book. I love the first one and the Bullet Catcher series. My family members come from different states and we always get together for Easter.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the nomination.

Happy Release Day, Roxanne. I'm loving this new series and already looking forward to Gabe's book. One of our traditions is that we get together for dinner on New Year's Eve.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Roxanne for Your nomination for Edge Of Sight, Crossing fingers & toes.
ReplyDeleteWell I do know I want to go to Italy Tuscany I have wanted to go since I saw the movie Under the Tuscan Sun.
Have a good one ladies.
Ann/alba
I have to say I've enjoyed your books! All my ancestors were from Sicily so we definitely have the Sunday dinners. My dad was an only child so they weren't huge affairs but my mom put out a great spread with whoever was available. She finally slowed down when she hit her 80's but every once in a while she still puts on a wonderful dinner. I have continued the tradition and now realize how much work and love she put into those dinners!

Great interview with Marc! The Guardian Angelinos series is a fabulous idea, especially with it based in Beantown!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your RITA nomination - we're routing for you!
Tina
Hi, Roxanne! Your books sound GREAT! I can't wait to read your series!
ReplyDeleteOur family always eats together on all Holidays.
I love Roxanne's books! This isn't really a tradition but growing up, we always used to sit down to have dinner together. breakfast and lunch we were on our own, but my mom insisted we all have a traditional family dinner every single night -- which mean I wasn't even allowed to have dinner at my friends' houses!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the nom Rocki! This was one of teh cutest interviews. Love me some marc and i haven't even read the book yet! lol I want to be italian now. gonna have to settle for polish though.

Congrats, Rocki. Great column and I'm looking forward to reading the newest.
ReplyDeleteI'm from South Louisiana and everything we do involves food--seafood boils, Mardi Gras parties, big holiday dinners, munchies over football games...the list goes on! (Email in profile.)
For Christmas breakfast we always have country ham with biscuits and gravy. I have three siblings and my mom will also makes us each our favorite dessert for Christmas. We eat some at mama's and take some home too.
ReplyDeleteA tradition my family always partakes in is going to the beach (specifically, Virginia Beach) for Christmas! The only tourists that go there during the wintertime go for the attractions on the boardwalk. The weather is chilly, but there's seldom any snow, so it's always really nice. And when it does snow -- you wouldn't believe how beautiful it is!

Congrats on the new release!! I can't wait to read it =)
ReplyDeleteDrink tea and read! I'm drawing a blank right now. If I think of more, I'll write back... sorry!
ReplyDeleteRoxanne St Claire is one of my favorite authors. My family is scattered all across the country but we all try to come together for at least one holiday a year.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to read this series!
ReplyDeleteOne of my family traditions is a Christmas Eve dinner at one house and Christmas Dinner at another.
Great interview and congrats on the release! Looking forward to it.
ReplyDeleteOur family traditions are really holiday meals and family birthdays where we all get together. Cake and pie on holidays with the traditional meal. And birthday choice for birthdays.
If you haven't read the Guardian Angelinos series, I HIGHLY recommend it - Edge of Sight was great!
ReplyDeleteOur fmaily traditions have changed now, because our mom passed away 12/21/08, so my sister and I are trying to uphold some and yet seeing if there might be something new for us. SO far we havne't come up with anything new, and some of the older ones don't apply anymore (holiday dinner where we make enough food for 8 or 10 - there's only the 2 of us left now).
LOL no investigations or catching villains...but we do always have family dinners
