RT Party Preview - Saucy Sirens through History

Hi Booklovers! Amanda McIntyre here and I hope everyone is ready for what is going to be one of the best RT Booklovers conventions ever! So much detail and care has gone into making this years premiere readers and writers convention an event to remember! Not only is it being held at the luxurious Westin Bonaventure Hotel, but the lineup of authors and social events is over the top this year! My thanks to RT for featuring a couple of the parties that I am thrilled to be co-hosting this year with some talented, terrific and enthusiastic authors!

Starting out the week is Saucy Sirens Through History! Hosted by a few returning historical authors from last year's wildly successful Midnight Mad Hatter Tea Party, we've this year added some new historical faces to the group and it promises to be even more fun! And when I say--historical--you'll see what I mean when you hear about the fun we have planned!

You can't have a RT Booklover's convention in 'tinsel town' without celebrating those lovely sirens of stage, screen, history and books! So your host authors thought it would be fun to dress up as THEIR favorite SIRENS--portraying those 'saucy' women who set fire to the hearts of their heroes, tormenting them with unrivaled beauty and unmatched brains! (of course!)

Helen of Troy

This year, our party has been moved from midnight to a longer, and earlier evening time slot, making it a fabulous way to kick off the convention festivities!

Bathsheba

We invite guests to join in the fun and come dressed in Hollywood glam as they enter the posh, elegance of old-style Hollywood! A sumptuous cheese and fruit buffet await our guests, including sparkling champagne and homemade exotic truffles! Yum! (Flown in expressly for this event!)

Mae and Marilyn

To add to the fun, the first 250 guests will receive a special goodie bag stuffed with a wonderful array of books and gifts from your event hosts and we will again be having a special game for all to participate in called, "Match the Stars!" Each guest will be given a card and by visiting each host's station, you are to match up the author with the "saucy siren" she is dressed as! Identities' of these characters have been kept a closely guarded secret, but let me tell you they authors have spared no expense at donning themselves in grand style to get into character!

Turn in your card and if it matches correctly-it goes into a pot to be drawn to win FOUR mega Grand Prizes of specially chosen lovely and unique gifts and swag by the author hosts!!

Mata Hari

Bring your books to be signed! Chat with your fav authors! Win prizes and take home free swag as we celebrate vintage Hollywood in grand style at Saucy Sirens Through History!

  3. I really wished I still lived in LA if only to attend this convention! I think Elizabeth Taylor was more alluring and saucy just as her self! Didn't she have like 8 husbands?

  4. Oh, I wish all of you could attend! It's going to be so much fun. Thanks, Kim, for sharing the news, and I can't wait to autograph a book to one of your commenters!

CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MARRIAGE won't be out until April 26th, which is a few weeks AFTER the RT convention, but if your winner can hold on that long, I'll send her a copy hot off the presses. Or if she'd rather, I can sign her a copy of one of my first two books, which should be at the conference.

Thanks again, Kim, for being such a great supporter of romance!! Love to you and all your readers here at SOS Aloha!!!

  7. Well, I think KIM is very saucy--or she was when she was Kim in Maryland instead of Kim in Hawaii! I'm looking forward to seeing you again, Kim, since if I remember correctly, you had to miss last year's RT. But I do have a picture of you and other lovely WRW ladies at RomCon. Still, I think you and your SOS event are one of the most memorable things at RT. (This year I'm bringing Mr. M to LA, but he will run far away from the RT crowd, lol.)

Mae West and Elizabeth Taylor by far. One of my favorite Liz Taylor saucy characters, Katharina, in THE TAMING OF THE SHREW. Loved it!

  16. oh wow the party sounds great! Cleopatra was a pretty saucy siren -- I read in Cosmo that she is known as the "original" CosmoGirl since she was from ancient times!

    ReplyDelete
  17. My favorite is Marilyn Monroe or Audrey Hepburn (she wasn't much of a "siren" as much as she was just influential but nonetheless!)

  18. Wow, Vintage Hollywood, my daughter Loves old Hollywood so much she set up a tribute page on tumbler. I really would love to be there with all these great Authors. Keep my fingers crossed. :)
To me Jane Russell was a great Saucy Siren. And I found Liz Taylor better as her self.

  19. LOL, Artemis. Kin organized a romance writers/officers' spouses luncheon at the base she was at in MD. She gave me a gift...I'm still not quite sure what it is. ;)

  20. Er, that should be "Kim" not "Kin." And I've already had my allotment of coffee for the day.

  21. Aw, man! I really want to attend!

My favorite siren is Cleopatra. No woman in the ancient world had so much name recognition although it was probably due to her relationships with Romans.

  22. Wish I could go. I do admire Cleopatra and I just saw a special on her on Nat Geo and she was very educated and spoke many languages and was able to keep the Romans at bay for years.
