Aloha to Sarah Wendell and EVERYTHING I KNOW ABOUT LOVE I LEARNED FROM ROMANCE NOVELS
Everything I know about world history I learned from romance novels. Or at least more than high school where it seemed so irrelevant. For me, history comes alive in romance books because I have a vested interest in the characters who lived in the time period. Romance books makes history fun ... just imagine if Leopold appeared in your apartment!
What else has romance taught its readers? Sarah Wendell is celebrating the release of her new book, EVERYTHING I KNOW ABOUT LOVE I LEARNED FROM ROMANCE NOVELS:
Straight from the heart of influential romance blogger Sarah Wendell, this inventive gift book provides the best wisdom about love that the romance genre has to offer. Laced with signature witty commentary and peppered with thoughts from bestselling romance authors and avid readers, these pages will reveal what every romance reader already knows: while romances are certainly steamy, they have more to offer than just a sexy hero. In fact, they might have more to say about love than we give them credit for.
I posted my review on Goodreads at this link. To learn more about Sarah and her books, check out her website at this link. I am giving away a print copy of EVERYTHING I KNOW ABOUT LOVE I LEARNED FROM ROMANCE NOVELS to one randomly selected commenter. To enter the giveaway,

I learned that the world is a better place for having Romance novels in it. The joy, the love, the laughter.
ReplyDeleteLove is an universal part of the human experience. (probably of most animal experience, too)
ReplyDeleteI learned that there is always a HEA for everyone.
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary. I am coming up on 35 years. Hard to believe. From romance novels, I have learned that there can be a happy ending.
ReplyDeleteBelieve it or not history!!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary!
Wishing you a very Happy Anniversary and many more years of happiness together!
ReplyDeleteI'm not really a sports person & I don't follow it, but thanks to sports romance novels I have learned basic rules of hockey, football, baseball...
Happy anniversary.
ReplyDeleteNiece on Big Island, where sister and her hubby and other nieces with there families also have lived. Should be a great visit.
Read Katherine, by Anya Seton, when young and learned that lots of people contribute to history but never get mentioned in the classroom.
"Their" please.
ReplyDeleteI loved that movie KATE AND LEOPOLD. So much fun. And would that be Leopold or Hugh appearing in my living room?
ReplyDeleteKim, do you really want me to tell what I learned from romance novels? Didn't think so. Because I just started reading romance a few years ago and I have learned sooo much. What a ride!!! LOL!!! Hey, I'm a late bloomer - what can I say!
Happy Anniversary Girlfriend! Have fun!
Happy Anniversary! My hubby and I just passed the 21 year mark.
ReplyDeleteI've learned that even if it seems like your boss, neighbor, landlord, doctor...seems to hate you...he's probably acting that way to hide the lust he feels for you. LOL
I want this book, I have seen reviewed a couple of times and have thought it looked great. I have heard great things about it. I have learned a lot from romance novels, like that it is okay to love whomever you want. It does not matter if the are a shy wallflower, someone not as rich as you are, you can love whomever feels right. I learned that most men are emotional and cry just like we do, not as much as me. I am a cryer. I cry at movies, commercials, kids movies. I also learned that men are just as nervous as women when it comes to dating, sex, and marriage. I love romance books, especially historical and paranormal. I love to read and would love to win this book.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway and the chance to win.

I think what I've learned from romance novels is what not to do - I've learned that honesty is everything because in the long run...they'll find out who you really are anyway...lol...
ReplyDeleteI'm a huge fan of Sara and the SBTB site! Makes me laugh and feel good! And I loved the movie "Kate and Leopold" too:)....one of my faves to watch over and over!
Happy Anniversary to you and your hubby! Hope you are enjoying your get-away.
ReplyDeleteAs for what I've learned from romance novels: I've actually learned a lot about society life, every day life, etc from the historicals I read. It is fun to learn about the details of that period of time/place.
Many historical facts in a very interesting way unlike history books. Since I like many genres, you learn a little bit about everything. I like that it can completely take me away into others lives and new worlds.

Congrats on the recent release Sarah!
ReplyDeleteThere's so much I've learned from romance books (historical facts that I will one day use on a quiz show). Opposites attract, reformed rakes make the best husbands and HEA isn't only for Disney movies. Oh, and sandalwood seems to be the scent of choice for a hero.
Happy anniversary Kim!
Kim, Happy Anniversary! What i have learned from romance novels is that a happily ever after is possible for everyone if only you work towards it.
ReplyDeleteOh, fun. I gave this same answer on Sarah's SB site earlier this week:
ReplyDeleteI learned that I NEED HEAs. I read other book genres and will continue to enjoy doing so. But I always come back to Romance because of the guaranteed happiness. It helps to even out everything else!
Kim--Happy Anniversary to you and Hubby. Hope you enjoy many, many more great years.
Happy Anniversary!
ReplyDeleteI've learned a lot of historical facts including what life was like for women in the past. I've also learned it's nice to read HEAs as an escape because real life is a lot different.
Hey Sarah and Kim :)
ReplyDeleteKate and leopold is like one of my favorite movies! lol. anyway, I love the idea of this book. It looks really insightful. I commented on the SBTB site about this, but I'll restate: I've learned a lot from romance, but mainly, that there's a HEA for everyone, no matter if the heroine is super tall, has emotional baggage, can't sing worth a damn (Sorry Smyth-Smith girls ;) ), ect. Romance novels teach the lessons of hope and inspire to keep that hope alive even in the darkest times.
Congrats on the release and I can't wait to read!!
Hope you and your husband had a wonderful anniversary Kim!
ReplyDeleteRomance novels show that it may not easy to reach the HEA but it sure is worth it when you do!
I recently came across your blog and have been reading along.
ReplyDeleteI think I will leave my first comment. I don’t know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading.
Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.
Great information... thanks for you review and tutorial about how to comment.
ReplyDeleteI think if we walk to other blog we most comment to give appreciate for owner.
