Aloha to Robin Kaye and WILD THING

According to ABC News, Kevin Bacon's six degrees of separation is inaccurate - "scientists" have proven 4.74 to be the correct number with today's social media.   4.74 would make a boring blog post.   Let's have fun with this - six plus four is 10 degrees to spotlight Robin Kaye's WILD THING:

Whitewater-rafting guide Hunter Kincaid lands his dream job–guiding sportswear models through Idaho's rugged wilderness for a week-long photo shoot. When he meets Toni Russo, the goth New York manager of Action Models, there are enough sparks to set the forest ablaze.

When Hunter finds Toni's book on how to marry the man of your choice, he studies it as a joke. Before long Hunter realizes he's never cared enough for a woman to bother working this hard to get her. But the last man in the world this city girl wants is a Survivor Man wannabe...

1.  WILD THING reminded me of City Slickers with female models taking to the great outdoors.

2.  City Slickers starred Billy Crystal and Jack Palance.

Jack Palance's one armed push ups at the Oscars.

3.  Jack Palance won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

4.  Robin Kaye is an award winning writer.  She hails from Brooklyn but now lives in Maryland.

5.  Robin also writes in her bio, "Living with an extended family that's a cross between Gilligan's Island and The Sopranos, minus the desert isle and illegal activities, explains both her comedic timing and the cast of quirky characters in her books."

6.  Gilligan's Island was filmed on Coconut Island in Kaneohe Bay.

7.  Kaneohe Bay played a critical role in the Pacific Theater of World War II.

8.  Al Hendrix served in the Pacific Theater during World War II - he was the father of Jimi Hendrix.

9.  Jimi Hendrix sang Wild Thing at the Monterrey Pop Festival in 1967.  He lit his guitar on fire after the song.

  2. I enjoy outdoors when there are no other people around. The best time we had 2 years ago when we got entire island for ourselves. Of course it was a small one, but I needed this kind of escape to relax 100%.

  3. I must say that living in Texas has changed my enjoyment of the outdoors. Right now, with the cooler weather we've been having, I can finally get out and walk!

  4. I love being outdoors especially in the winter time because most of the bugs and flying insects are either hibernating or dead! Dead insects are better than in the summertime when they are flying, crawling and jumping all over everything outside. You know what, I would much rather stay inside where it's warm, I have running water and am fairly confident there won't be anything flying around my head or jumping out of a tree to bite me. lol

  7. I love the fresh air and sunshine. I don't love the biting insects! I enjoy wandering around and admiring the beauty but will definitely want to retreat to a room indoors with heat/air and electricity, lol!

  8. I like the outdoors in the spring, fall, and winter. I love to walk when it's not too hot and look around me at the beautiful nature. During the summer, I try to live indoors as much as possible.

  9. I especially enjoy spring when everything is turning green. Pittsburgh isn't known for having a lot of sunshine so when it does shine, I try to get outdoors.

  15. I enjoy leaving the outdoors - outdoors. I'm happy to sit in the garden & read, but I've had enough of wilderness & camping to last a lifetime.

  16. Kim - This is sooo cool! Thanks for this. It was a pleasant surprise when I was going through google! I love how you did it and thanks for the great review. After reading Wild Thing, I guess you know how much I love being outdoors in the mountains. The great thing about Stanley, ID is there really aren't any bugs, no mosquitos. There's just not enough moisture up there in the high-mountain desert. The last time I went camping in Stanley, it was 4th of July weekend and it went down to 23 degrees at night. My husband and three kids were all sleeping soundly and I froze! Of course it went up into the 80s during the day, but once the sun goes down, it gets seriously cold!
