Mea culpa. CBS featured several promos for H50 and NCIS: LA crossover throughout the weekend. I assumed this epic event would take place last night. Instead, CBS broadcast a rerun. The crossover is scheduled for Monday, April 29.
In my excitement for the H50 crossover, I forgot yesterday was St. George's Day - the patron saint of England.
Let's make up for my error with Cara Elliott's TOO TEMPTING TO RESIST:
In the Wolf's Lair . . .
Determined to stop her wayward brother from squandering their dwindling fortune, Lady Eliza Brentford decides to follow him to his favorite den of depravity. There, among the candlelight and raucous revelry, she encounters her brother's role model in debauchery, the notorious Marquess of Haddan, Gryffin Dwight. Staring into his smoldering green eyes, Eliza can't help but find the rakehell nobleman seductively charming-and sinfully attractive.
In a Lover's Paradise . . .
When Gryffin appears on Eliza's estate as a guest of her brother, a stolen kiss among the garden's blooms leads to a night of unbridled passion. Suddenly the lovely widow feels herself opening up, like the petals of a rose. Could this master of seduction possibly feel true emotion for Eliza? Or is he leading her down the garden path to an Eden of delights no woman can resist-and a fall no woman can escape?
Time to play seven degrees of separation ...
1. St. George is portrayed as a slayer of a dragon.
2. The dragon is a proud symbol of Wales.
3. TOO TEMPTING TO RESIST offers a rakish hero, Gryffin Dwight, with a delicious dragon (read the book).
4. The Gryffin is a "legendary creature with the body of a lion with the head and wings of an eagle." The Gryffin is prominent in the crest of Trinity College, University of Oxford.
5. The University of Oxford is home of the Ashmolean Museum, including works of art by Michelanglo, Leonardo da Vinci, Turner, and Picasso.
6. Art is a central theme in TOO TEMPTING TO RESIST. The heroine, Lady Eliza Brentford, is an artist and illustrator. It is her passion. Gryffin admires Eliza's artistry ... and other talents.
7. Cara Elliott also admires art and features Regency portraits under "Diversions" on her website at www.caraelliott.com.
I posted my five star review of TOO TEMPTING TO RESIST on Goodreads at this link. I am giving away a print copy of TOO TEMPTING TO RESIST to one randomly selected commenter. To enter the giveaway,

ReplyDeleteI thought it was last night as well for the cross over show and they should show the dates more.
ReplyDeleteYou did forget to mention that Ice-T and Coco were in Hawaii and that Ty was Coco's surfing teacher. Jane Porter can really pick the cream of the husband crop.
I love the Mona Lisa by DaVinci!
ReplyDeleteI love Grant Wood. He lived in Iowa for a time and I see a lot of his pictures everywhere. He stayed and painted not too far where I live. I look at his pictures and then look at the countryside and see what he saw when he painted. I also love American Gothic. It is just a classic picture.
ReplyDeleteLove Cara's book and this one looks great. I love art and looking at pictures. Thanks for the giveaway.

I love Monet. A couple of years ago, my answer would have been his "Water Lilies." Since I visited his home and gardens last year at Giverny, I've come to realize that he painted many versions of his water lilies, through different seasons and moods. They are similar, but unique. All are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy the art of Thomas Kinkade.

My son who is color blind led me to a real appreciation of Edouard Mnaet who is an Impressionist and his painting Roadmenders in the Rue de Berne and Claude Monet who is a lanscape artist and his painting Bridge Over A Pond of Water.
ReplyDeleteSince he doesn't see red, blue and green he taught me to appreciate art in a totally diferent perspective then I had ever done before - noticing the detail of brush strokes and the depth of the paint on the canvas. It was like an entire new view of what was before me opened up and bloomed in an entirely different way.
My favorite artists are DaVinci and Rembrandt. I don't have a favorite artwork, but I like pictures from the Renaissance period.
