Aloha to Molly Harper and NICE GIRLS DON'T BITE THEIR NEIGHBORS

Today is the Giant Book Fair at the RT Booklovers' Convention (at this link).    I'll be heading down the "H" aisle to meet paranormal author Molly Harper.  From her bio,

When Molly Harper was eight years old, she set up a “writing office” in her parents’ living room, complete with an old manual typewriter and a toy phone. And she (very slowly) pecked out the story of her third-grade class taking a trip around the world and losing a kid in each city. She had a dark sense of humor even then.

You must read the rest of her bio at this link!   I expect Molly to be signing her latest release, NICE GIRLS DON'T BITE THEIR NEIGHBORS, Book Four in the life of Jane Jameson, librarian turned vampire:

WITH THIS RING, I THEE DEAD.

Just as Jane Jameson’s unlife seems to be stabilizing, fate sinks its fangs firmly into her butt. Despite her near-phobia of wedding planning, her no-frills nighttime nuptials to her sexy boyfriend, Gabriel, are coming along smoothly. That is, until she turns a fatally wounded teenage acquaintance, and the Council pronounces her responsible for the newborn vamp until he can control his thirst.

Jane’s kitchen barely holds enough Faux Type O to satiate the cute teen’s appetite and maintain Gabriel’s jealous streak at a slow simmer. As if keeping her hyperactive childe from sucking the blood out of the entire neighborhood isn’t enough to deal with, the persnickety ghost of Jane’s newly deceased grandma Ruthie has declared war on the fanged residents of River Oaks. Suddenly choosing monogrammed cocktail napkins and a cake she can’t even eat seem downright relaxing in comparison.

Tensions inside the house are growing…and outside, a sinister force is aiming a stake straight for the center of Gabriel’s heart. Most brides just have to worry about choosing the right dress, but Jane fears that at this rate, she’ll never make it down the aisle for the wedding all nice girls dream of…

I am giving away a print copy of NICE GIRLS DON'T BITE THEIR NEIGHBORS to one randomly selected commenter.  To enter the giveaway,

  1. Oh I have been wanting to read this book. It just sounds so good. I don't watch those bridezilla shows but my favorite bride movie would have to be A Cinderella Story. I think Drew Barrymore was great in that role.

  4. I used to love the old musical, "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers." The singing and dancing, the brothers with their alphabetical Biblical names--such fun!

Thanks for the column on Molly. Am I the only one who thinks her early book about the third-grade field trip has promise? Bring it on!

  5. I love the Steve Martin Father Of The Bride. It was my favorite.
The Bridezilla reality shows were insane. They were so annoying I had to stop watching them. Molly Harper's "Nice Girls Don't Bite Their Neighbors" sounds like a fun read.

  6. Nice Girls Don't Bite Their Neighbors sounds like a fun read. I don't watch any of the bride reality shows, don't have a favorite bride movie and don't have any bridezilla stories. Boring in this neck of the woods today!!:O)

  11. I had a very low key wedding with just a handful of guests--no bridezilla story. I get annoyed that there is so much more emphasis on the wedding than on the marriage. I don't watch any of the bridal series, but I do like the movie, Father of the Bride (where Spencer Tracy is father to bride Elizabeth Taylor). I also liked My Big, Fat Greek Wedding.

  12. No Bridezilla stories. Mine was pretty low-key. And my sis in law eloped (and she'd be the WORST Bridezilla ever). The only movie that comes to mind is Bride Wars! Two friends who's wedding ends up the same time and each one is trying to sabotage the other. Hathaway is in it. Can't think of the blonde's name.

  14. Have heard great things about this book. Would love to win and read it.
I love bride movies and anything to do with weddings. I used to work at a country club and helped with weddings. Setting up and tearing them down. I have also helped a couple of friends and cousins setting up the reception hall and decorating tables. Always wanted to be a wedding planner.
    Thanks for the great giveaway.

  16. Thanks for the great post and giveaway! I Love Molly's books!

I luckily don't have a bridezilla story to share. Many cuz I've made it perfectly clear that I give much better gifts as a spectator instead of a participant at weddings. The closest I've come is Say Yes to the Dress. Love that show. Don't know how people can buy a dress that's the equivalent of a car but hey, if they got the green, go spend it! But, if I was me, I'd rather have the car.

  17. I like to watch: Don't tell the Bride, in which the grooms organize the wedding without the bride's knowledge. Can't imagine not having anything to do with how your big day turns out.

  19. Good Morning! Molly is a new to me author I look forward to reading.

No bridezilla story for me. I am too low key and easy going. However, I do love to watch David Tuttera and the Platinum Bride shows. Wow...Some of the stuff brides do?!? Can't say I understand it, but it is neat to watch.

  22. My college friend was almost a bridezilla. We just gave in to whatever she wanted and it was okay (although I was really, really tempted not to show up for her wedding and I was a bridesmaid). Thank goodness her marriage has lasted; no way would any of us want to go through that again.

  25. Molly's book sounds really fun! Thanks for telling us about it ;). As for weddings, I went to a double wedding once (2 sisters) that was like a Broadway production. Each bride had 8 bridesmaids with 8 groomsmen, so there were 32 attendants, plus 2 pairs of miniature brides/grooms, plus 2 ringbearers and at least 4 flowergirls. It was...insane, but kinda fascinating, LOL.

Kim, it was *wonderful* to see you at RT!! Thanks so much for stopping by to visit me at the Kensington party!
