Aloha to Sara Humphreys and UNTOUCHED

Sara Humphreys returns to SOS Aloha!   She visited us back in October (at this link) to promote UNLEASHED - her debut paranromal romance and first book in the Amoveo Legend.  Today Sara is celebrating the release of UNTOUCHED - the second book in the Amoveo Legend.   Please join me in welcoming Sara!

What Makes Paranormal Sexy to Me?
By Sara Humphreys

What makes paranormal sexy?  Savage. Seductive. Dangerous. Unpredictable. Edgy. Mysterious. These are just some of the words that came to mind when I asked myself that question.

The paranormal world is inherently unpredictable and in turn that makes it dangerous and all that danger brings out the protective nature in our alpha male heroes. Not that us gals want to read about helpless damsels in distress, because a weak willed heroine is not sexy, but it is sexy to have a man be fiercely protective of the woman he loves.

Heroes who possess paranormal gifts are often elusive, wounded or vulnerable-- usually because they’ve spent their life skirting along the edges of a traditional society. I think there’s something quite attractive about a man who’s strong on the outside but has a soft, sensitive side that’s squirreled away. Getting him to reveal that secret part of himself, a part he’s never shown anyone else, now that is sexy.

However, the men haven’t cornered the market on self-discovery…our heroines have plenty to reveal as well.

In Untouched, Kerry is no stranger to the paranormal but she’s kept it a secret from everyone. She’s got the gift of second sight. When she touches another person it provokes blinding visions and mind-numbing pain, so as a result she’s learned to live without the simplest of touches…and yes…she’s a thirty year old virgin.  Talk about someone who’s got some discovering to do.

Dante is Amoveo from the Fox Clan and he’s spent his adult life searching for his mate. Amoveo are dream-walking, telepathic shape-shifters made up of ten different animal clans. They have one pre-destined soul mate and if they don’t find their mate by the time they turn thirty, they begin to lose their abilities and ultimately die.

Dante’s finally found his mate in Kerry. However, she doesn’t realize that the reason she has second sight is because she’s a human-Amoveo hybrid.

When the two of them find each other there are new things revealed at almost every turn—including a faceless enemy out to destroy them.  Danger is one hell of an aphrodisiac, especially when you combine it with thirty years of pent up sexual frustration.  Kerry soon finds out that Dante’s touch soothes the fire in her mind but simultaneously introduces her to a whole new kind of combustion.

Imagine finding out that you’re only half human and that you have a multitude of undiscovered powers buried deep beneath the surface that are above and beyond the weirdness you’re already dealing with?  That there’s an entire part of yourself you never knew existed? Then one day, you meet a man who quite literally unlocks secrets you didn’t even know you had….and your world is forever altered.

That’s why paranormal is sexy to me…because anything and everything is possible. There are no limits except your own imagination and what you see on the surface is only the beginning.

What makes paranormal romance sexy to you? Why do paranormal romance heroes curl your toes?

UNTOUCHED BY SARA HUMPHREYS –
IN STORES APRIL 2012

She should be seen, but never touched…

Kerry Smithson's modeling career ensures that she will be admired from afar, which is essential since mere human touch sparks blinding pain and terrifying visions.

Every good model needs a heavenly bodyguard…

Dante Coltari is hired to protect Kerry from those who know who she is—or more importantly what she is—and want her dead because of it. Nothing could have prepared him for the challenge of keeping her safe. But, strangely, his lightest touch brings her exquisite pleasure rather than pain, and Dante and Kerry have an otherwordly connection that might just pull them through.

“Red-hot love scenes punctuate a well-plotted suspense story that will keep readers turning pages as fast as they can.”
- Publishers Weekly Starred Review

    1. Hi Liesa--I am all for escaping into a book and writing them gives me plenty of opportunities. I know what you mean about the bad boys. *sigh* Too bad in real life the bad boys are just....bad. I married a good boy with a bad boy sense of humor.

  4. Aloha, Kim! Aloha, Sara! First of all, freaking BEAUTIFUL cover! That is one of the many things which draws me to paranormal romance: the amazingly delicious cover art. Another? The escape, of course. While I love the occasional contemporary, I'm drawn to that which allows me to leave this normal, everyday, ho-hum world. And paranormal is just the ticket.

    Great post! :)

  9. Thanks for a great post and giveaway! I've really been wanting to read Sara's books. Thanks again for the chance!

I'd have to say that I like PNR/UF b/c there is literally no limit to what the characters can or can't do. I also love the world building and how magic or paranormal activity/abilities can play into these worlds. And it feels like the romance is often more intense b/c these worlds are often harder and more dangerous than the norm.

  12. I guess what draws me the most to paranormals are that each book or series is totally unique. The author can choose what characters they want (vampires, shifters, demons, angels, etc), build the world they imagine, create the conflict/problems the hero & heroine have to overcome, etc. Nothing is impossible, the only limits are those of the author's imaginations. And the heroes are generally very alpha, strong, confident, protective, dependable, intelligent, sexy, hawt men!!! I definitely love them.

  13. There are things we don't know or understand in the world. Paranormal stories show what might be and, of course, anything is possible. The alpha men in these stories are so much more than most of the men we ever meet!

    1. Hi Carol--It's true. MOst real-life guys can't live up to our romance alphas...but some will surprise us.

  16. I love variety and I love being surprised and paranormals have the freedom I think of being both - such creativity to come up with new worlds and new peoples. And even the covers are some of the most gorgeous!

  17. I have been reading paranormal for as long as I can remember. They were the genre that I picked up as a kid and I've loved them ever since. I think it's the mix of reality and fantasy. I love the world each author is able to create with their characters.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Remember when I first heard about "paranormal" I associated it with "vampires" and "werewolves". At the time I thought they were over done, cliche, mostly from movies alone. I steered clear. Then Sherrilyn Kenyon's dark hunters came along, opened up the genre to me.

The entire could be's and what if's keeps my brain engaged and well it has that tate of fantasy which I love that keeps me interested.

  19. I love paranormal stories because the heroes are larger than life and very alpha. The heroines are strong and independent or become that way with just a little assistance from their loving mate. The stories are intriguing and way outside what I perceive as the norm - total escapism. And, darn, a girl can dream! ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  20. I love paranormal stories because they're a great escape from the real world, they're never boring and always have the hottest heroes!

    ReplyDelete
  21. I am attracted to paranormal romance because the author gets to make up their own rules. Behavior and characteristics that would be unacceptable in a contemporary story is perfectly normal in a PNR. An uber-Alpha male PNR hero would be considered a jerk in a contemporary story. I also love that the author can create their own world.

  22. Paranormals make for great escape reading (being able to do things that no normal person can is like ultimate in escape from reality) plus the heroes are generally sexy as can be to boot. what's not to enjoy ;)

  23. I'm a limited paranormal reader. I like ghost stories and time travel. But not vamps.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Goodness, I love those covers. I have not read these books but I have them in my wish list and plan on reading them.

I love paranormals because the author gets to do things we don't find in real life. Where else can we live out our fantasies of vampires, werewolves or demons? Authors can let their imaginations run wild and anything can happen. What's not to like?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Congratulations on the book! I like the stories and reading about the author's imagination and creativity.

  26. With Paranormal Romance I am drawn to the fact that just about anything goes. The only limitations are the imagination.

  27. Congratulations on your book. I recently started paranormal about a year ago and now I can't put them down. I love them. I am partial to shifters, but am not reading witch. I am loving it!! I love the ability to do anything and everything. I love all of the possibilities that can occur! It really goes with the saying, "Anything is possible."

  30. In paranormal romance, anything can happen and usually does, it's up to the author's imagination. They can create some fantastic new worlds and characters. Congrats on the new release. Can't wait to read it.

  33. What draws me to paranormal romance is usually how imaginative the story can be and I really enjoy getting into different paranormal worlds of different books!

  34. It's the unexpected. The magic and the characters. There's more then just one story there. The Hero who is all Alpha. Hard as steel and soft and chewy when his loved ones are threatened. :)
