Please join me in welcoming Stefanie Sloane for a cozy chat about her Regency Rogues! From her bio (at this link),
A native Northwesterner with the pale skin to prove it, Stefanie credits her parents’ eclectic reading habits—not to mention their decision to live in the middle of nowhere—for her love of books. A childhood spent lost in the pages of countless novels led Stefanie to college where she majored in English. No one was more surprised than Stefanie when she actually put her degree to use and landed a job in Amazon.com’s Books editorial department. She spent over five years reading for a living before retiring to concentrate on her own stories. Stefanie currently resides with her family in Seattle.
Kim: You debuted with three back to back books in a very
popular genre - Regency romance. What did you learn from this experience?
Possessed of a
brilliant mind and a love for puzzles, Dashiell Matthews, Viscount Carrington,
is a crucial member of the elite Young Corinthians spy league. Assuming the
façade of an addle-brained Adonis, he hunts for a notorious London murderer
known as the Bishop. When fate causes him to cross paths with Miss Elena
Barnes, Dash discovers an enigma that will prove delightfully intoxicating to
unravel: a voluptuous beauty as intelligent as she is fearless.
Only the lure of a collection of rare books bequeathed to her family by Dash’s late father could tempt Elena from her cozy rural life to the crush and vanity of London. But if Elena finds his lordship to be the most impossibly beautiful man she’s ever seen, he also seems to be the stupidest. Which made her body’s shameless response to his masterful seduction all the more unfathomable. Yet when she discovers Dash’s mission to track the dangerous Bishop, she willingly risks everything—her trust, her heart, her very life—to join him.

For me cheesecake would be my recommendation. Plain and unadorned - nothing to detract from its own taste. Spy stories are one of my favorites as well.
ReplyDeleteFor me it would be -- Banana Cream Pie!!!!! Love it!
ReplyDeleteas strawberries are coming into season, gotta include those. so how about a strawberry "shortcake" of angel food cake (fresh & light -even if from a mix - not the heavy stuff they often sell in the store), fresh slightly sweetened berries, lots of creamy whipped cream :) yum
ReplyDeleteI’m sure my favorite desserts wouldn’t have been available at that time. For Lady Mowbray’s table, I would recommend a lovely lemon custard tart, topped with fresh berries—preferably raspberries.
ReplyDeleteFavorite desserts? Welll my mother's cousin, she always made this one that was so damn decadant: chocolate pudding, cream cheese, whipped creams, nuts on a cheesecake crumb bottom. Oh man oh man oh man that was delicious. Think I gained ten pounds thinking it.
ReplyDeleteA simple and delicious dessert from Britain would be "Eton Mess". My youngest daughter made it and I love strawberries and cream anyway so it was a win win dessert for me. :)Here's a link for several simple recipes if you're interested. I'm sure Mrs. Mowbray has already had it. lol

Thanks for a great post! I've had book lust for this series, ever since Stefanie first went on tour. I's really, really want :)
ReplyDeleteUmmm... I love strawberry pie. An oldy but a goody :)
I would recommend a local recipe of our country, it's called "Halo Halo" (Mixed in English)It's a healthy dessert because it is made up of different fruits that complements with each other and goes well with Summer. It consists of mango, banana, gelatin, ripe jack fruit, sweet corn or chick peas , shredded coconut, sweet yams, shaved ice, milk with ice cream and chopped peanuts as toppings. It's also a no-need-to-bake dessert. Simple and easy. :D
ReplyDeleteHow about New York Cheese Cake with Oreo crust?
ReplyDeleteSue
I would recommend Pumpkin Cheesecake---yummy!
ReplyDeleteHow about something not English - Creme Brulle.
ReplyDeleteA nice tiramisu should start dinner nicely.
ReplyDeleteMy very favorite dessert is pumpkin pie with whipped cream. There's just something about that creamy pumpkin goodness that I can't resist.
ReplyDeleteI love pumpkin pie and I love cheesecake. Pumpkin cheesecake is what I would recommend.
ReplyDeleteAww, no Colin Firth giveaway? O.o you girls are mean :'(
ReplyDeleteLOL! Cupcakes!; ) doesn't really matter, they're all good, but red velvet are my favorites :) yummy!
Thanks Stefanie & Kim for the interview :)

I would recommend a chocolate mayonnaise cake or a delicious strawberry pie.

I have a recipe for a coconut/black walnut pound cake that I think would do nicely. I like that they were indulging in something sweet. Congratulations on the new release!

Nice interview. I'd suggest chocolate cake.
ReplyDeleteI love Regency Rogues and would LOVE to win this set of books. I don't have any of Stephanie's yet.
ReplyDeleteAs far as dessert is concerned, I love cinnamon bread pudding with whiskey sauce.
I would say a cherry cheesecake. So delicious :D
ReplyDeleteI'm still thinking about Treacle Pudding, but my Mother makes the most delicious Steamed Pudding with Rum Custard.
ReplyDeleteI think I need to move to Belgium, just so I can eat dessert first.
Not sure my favorite would be around for Lady Mowbray, but I love a hot brownie with cold ice cream and chocolate syrup on top. Love the combination of hot and cold. YUM!

Peach crumble with vanilla ice cream. Probably not available, but she should invent time travel to get to it! There's just something so sinfully wonderful about the aromatic, floral peaches mixing in with the cool, milky ice cream...I think I'm drooling!

Well I am glad you can handle all the stuff that goes along with releasing three books back to back =) I am also a sucker for spies, they just scream sexy and untouchable.
ReplyDeleteChocolate is so a cure all, though there are some other yummy ideas posted! I would pick chocolate mousse, it is light and airy so you can eat a lot of it. But if its a very good chocolate it hits the spot perfectly.
Anything with chocolate in it....right now I'd say a big warm chocolate chip cookie with ice cream on top. Yummy!
ReplyDeleteI've been craving creme brulee lately and would recommend that. It's so light and fluffy, it's like you're eating clouds!
ReplyDeletemy favorite dessert is avocado chocolate cake :)
