Aloha to Darlene Marshall and CASTAWAY DREAMS

Darlene Marshall hails from my home state of Florida.  From her bio:

Darlene Marshall is an award-winning author of historical romance featuring pirates, privateers, smugglers, and the occasional possum. She loves working at a job where business attire is shorts and a shirt festooned with pink flamingos and palm trees. Marshall lives in North Central Florida, a convenient location for putting the convertible top down and researching sites of great historical significance, which also happen to also be at the beach and serve mojitos.

Darlene Marshall researches Naval history!

Gotta love those pink flamingos!   Darlene interjects that kind of zany fun into her Regency stories, including her newest novel, CASTAWAY DREAMS:

After a lifetime in the Royal Navy, surgeon Alexander Murray knows one cannot exist without a brain, yet Daphne Farnham may be the exception. Her head contains nothing but rainbows, shoes, bonnets, pink frills and butterflies. Even her fluffy dog is useless. But the war with Napoleon is finally over and Alexander is sure he can put up with the cloth-headed Miss Farnham only for a couple of months until they reach England.

Did that naval officer have his sense of humor surgically removed? It is bad enough Alexander has no fashion sensibilities, never smiles at Daphne like other men do and doesn't adore her darling pup Pompom. He had the gall to proclaim her "useless" when everyone knows it's Daphne who's the best at picking out just the right ensemble for any social occasion. Fortunately, she has to put up with the sour Scotsman only for a couple of months until they reach England.

I posted my review of CASTAWAY DREAMS on Amazon at this link and Goodreads at this link.  Darlene is giving away a print copy of CASTAWAY DREAMS to one randomly selected commenter.  To enter the giveaway,

1.  What is your favorite summer drink - mojitos?  lemonade?  margaritas?

2.  This giveaway is open to US residents only ... but I will giveaway a Hawaiian beach souvenir to one international reader.

3.  Comments are open through Saturday, June 9, 10  pm in Hawaii.  I'll post the winner on Sunday, June 10.

Mahalo,

Kim in Hawaii

  16. Kim -

You know how much I love meeting "new to me" authors and Darlene's book Castaway Dreams sounds like so much fun to read!

I didn't know that you'd lived in Florida before today. I was living in Jacksonville when I met my husband in 1969 when he was stationed at NAS Cecil Field! I couldn't resit a man in uniform and sailors sure are sexy! He still has that Navy trim feature even after 42 years of marriage!

For our honeymoon we went to Tampa. We didn't know it when we made the reservations but we eneded up being their for Gasparilla parade. For three days pirates "invade" the city - sailing into Hillsborough Bay by ship with a escort of hundreds of pleasure craft and vessels of all sizes. The entire city comes out to celebrate a street festival that include one of the largest art shows in the southeast, street music and entertainment, fireworks and plenty of food. We had a blast and it was a great way to start off our new life together! Needless to say when our boys were growing up there were a lot of swashbuckling going on in our family room!
