What
inspired a Jersey Girl to write western romances?
Thanks so much for inviting me to
guest blog today, Kim! You know me too well. Sometimes I wonder just where I
fit—born in South Carolina, my parents moved 10 times in 9 years, finally
settling in New Jersey—which if you’ve met me, might explain a lot. :-)
I love the change of seasons, and
don’t know if I could live anywhere that didn’t have them, but I absolutely
fell in love with the bold beauty of the brilliant blue sky and muted earth
tones of the country out West. How could you not be moved by the grandeur of
the wide open spaces, the depth and breadth of the Grand Canyon, the color
palate of the Painted Desert?

Add to that a life-long love
affair with my favorite TV Westerns: Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, Marshal Dillon and
Cheyenne and Silver Screen Legends: John Wayne and Gary Cooper. A tall,
broad-shouldered, hunk of cowboy with rugged good looks is my idea of a hero.
Cowboys have to work the land, take care of their ranch—the land and the
animals. It’s a lonely existence and sometimes seems like it is all work with
no free time to relax.
It takes a special person, one
who is dedicated to this way of life, often-times it’s because it’s in the
family—and the blood. Generations before him have worked the same spread,
giving their all to the land, to the animals—and if they’re lucky—the woman
strong enough to work alongside of him. These men have bled for their land…died
for their land…nothing and no one is going to take it from them.
Don’t forget to add that dash of Country
Music that I grew up with and how could I not love cowboys?
The Garahans add that extra
something that I love to include in all of my stories: family names…so far I’ve
been using the names from my Irish roots…haven’t run out of names yet…when I
do, I might start on the Welsh names. :-)
So you’ve got the core of my
existence: Romance, Family, Hearth &
Home…if you want to catch up on the latest news, reviews, etc., see new pics of

Oh, I have been waiting for Jesse. I just love the Irish. They are so charming and very friendly. TY for the great blog!! I love C.H. Admirand's books!!
ReplyDeleteHi Betty! Jesse is definitely a man worth waiting for, IMHO.
DeleteThe Irish are such charmers. Our darling little grandbaby has more Irish blood that I do! LOL. His father is 100% Irish and the charm oozing from that little darling's pores just wraps around our hearts.
I love this book and the entire series!!! I think the Irish have a charming personality.
ReplyDeletePlease do not enter me in this drawing,I have this book already.
Hi Danielle...love the name, BTW :) I'm delighted you've enjoyed the series. I absolutely lost my heart to those wild-eyed Texas cowboys and can't wait to get back to Pleasure, Texas and introduce more of the Garahans. :)
DeleteI have been meet or went to Ireland but i love irish from the book i read :)
ReplyDeleteHi Eli! Ireland is on my wishlist of places to visit. I've dreamed of standing on the Cliffs of Moher and amidst the verdant rolling hills with mist wrapping around me more times than I can count!
DeleteIf I could just touch the stones of our ancestor's castle Loughmoe Castle in Tipperary...
I love their Brogue when talking. I also like their tales about the little people, (fairys and elfs)and songs. I always wanted to visit but now don't know if I will.
ReplyDeletemisskallie2000 at yahoo dot com
Mmmm...I totally agree about the Irish Brogue, Miss Kallie! I love the lyrical sound, add in the resonance of a deep voice and I'm a total gonner!
DeleteI'm a huge fan of their myths and legends and in fact have written about the Little People and the Fae in three other books.
I love the accent especially! Something about an Irish accent that's really charming... :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like an interesting book!
Hi May! The Irish Brogue and the charm is what always gets to me.
DeleteDon't laugh, but age isn't a factor for me. I just close my eyes and listen...he could be 18 or 80 and I'm still entranced!
I love the accent..but the pictures of all that green land and beautiful surroundings..really makes me want to visit there some day.
ReplyDeleteThat's it exactly, Mary! For years I've alternated between calendars with pictures of Ireland and calendars with Faeries on them!
DeleteSomeday...
Three words. Accent. Myths. Free spirited.
ReplyDeleteAmen, Lory Lee! You've summed it up beautifully :)
DeleteTheir accent and like Scotland, the old stories.
ReplyDeleteHey Catslady! I melt for both Brogues...Irish and Scottish. Over the years, I've collected Scottish and Irish legends and myths, along with the history of both peoples.
DeleteHello C.H.!!
ReplyDeleteFunny you put a photo of Grand Canyon National Park in this post since I posted yesterday that it is my favorite park.
The haunted Irish tales charm me. And 'the luck of'...can't forget that! :-)
Hey Meljprincess! It's been years since we visited the Grand Canyon, but I can still see it in my mind's eye...awesome beauty.
DeleteHmmm haunted Irish tales...Love it!
I love their stories about fairies and other things. Their accent is also delightful.
ReplyDeletekscathy@yahoo.com
Hi, Cathy P! I do too. We kindof have this phenomenon in one of the gardens in our backyard. Violets that I planted randomly started to grow in three separate rings...and all I could think of was faerie rings!
DeleteI've taken pics and posted them a few times on my blog. Our daughter agrees with me and neither one of us is willing to step in the middle of one...we're not ready to go to Faerieland...yet! :)
Love the sound of Jesse! I love the Irish because of their love of life in general, the beautiful countryside and the sexy Irish men! Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteHey Maria D. Thanks so much. There was just something about writing Jesse's story that got to me on a deeper level.
DeleteSpeaking of sexy...check out Sean Connery as Michael McBride in Darby O'Gill and the Little People. He's Scottish, but has the Black Irish good looks. :)
I love the Irish brogue.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely, Estella!
DeleteI love the stories I hear from the Irish. The accent makes the telling so much better.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteOK...trying again...sorry about that!
DeleteThe accent truly does enhance the storytelling...those that have the gift are true Seanchais (Gaelic for storytellers)
The accent
ReplyDeleteDefinitely, the accent:)
DeleteI'm not alone in thinking that it would have to be the accent.
ReplyDeleteYou are in good company, Marybelle. :)
DeleteIrish Man, the accent, and boyband such as BOYZONE and WESTLIFE. i love them all. and the book too :D
ReplyDeleteHi Cecilia, I had to look up the bands you mentioned since they were new to me.
DeleteI'll have to add to that list, Flogging Molly and the Dropkick Murphys :)Love their music and have seen them in concert a few times. Both bands have your toes tapping, your voice raised in song and your pint lifted high in the air :)
Irish men are charming and fun to be with!! I loved Tyler and Dylan! I'm sure Jesse will also be a fun read!!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Betty. I wonder if Irishmen consider their charm a gift or a curse...hmmm...I think there's a story there. LOL!
DeleteI love the Irish and their zest for life.. Thanks for the blog and the photo of the Grand Canyon...
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, but I can't take any credit for the images...Kim supplied the fab images!
DeleteThanks, Kim!!!
There is something earth-shaking in the eyes of the Irish. How can they NOT be sexy? Love the cowboy names, and the covers are fabulous. I am a great fan of SOURCEBOOKS, too.
ReplyDeleteNancy Lee Badger
author of MY HONORABLE HIGHLANDER
Hi Nancy! Absolutely, you can get lost in the depths of those intense dark brown eyes. Sourcebooks does have fab covers.
DeleteWOW, I just check out the cover for MY HONORABLE HIGHLANDER and love it...and the premise. Congrats on the release. :)

ReplyDeleteThank you for inviting me and asking such great questions!
I would have to agree with those that say the Irish accent is charming! lol, I find I like all accents...
ReplyDeleteI love the Irish for their rich folklore. Ireland, Hawaii...yes I can see the lush green similarity =)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the pic of the dancing Paniolo guys!
Hi C.H.
ReplyDeleteI was born in NJ and now am a Carolina girl (North Carolina but right across the SC state line on the coast). I've moved around a bit as an adult but nothing like 10 times in 9 years. I can't imagine!
I once loved an Irish-American fella. His had the best little twinkle in his eye. I also love the accents of the Irish.
I love the Irish. Maybe it is because my dad's side of the family came over from Ireland. :) The accent is great, and I'd love to visit there and hang out with the locals in a village pub.
ReplyDeleteI'm Irish/Italian-American. I love that family is so important. Big dinners and lots of noise and laughter.
ReplyDeletegeishasmom73 at yahoo dot com
I read Tyler's story - I need to catch up with Dylan & Jesse.
ReplyDeleteI've always been charmed by the Irish - my father was born there, and I grew up with my Irish grandparents. Nothing better than stories of the wee fairys!
I love the Irish accent, it just makes me smile.
ReplyDeleteI'm a born and raised New Jersean. :)
ReplyDeleteI'd love to read this series and have them on my TRL now.
Aside from the lush green of the land it's that gorgeous Brogue. :)Gets me every time. :)
