Celebrate Little Victories: Book Donations, Tiramisu Cake, and a Colorful World

Life is good ....

... last week, an avid reader in Honolulu (not related to the military) contacted me to donate books for military families.   We met at Starbucks, chatted about local politics, and she gave me three big boxes!

Lucky will sort the books.

... two days ago, I enjoyed my 21st birthday with a Tiramisu Cake!

Tiramisu cake - yum, yum!

... yesterday, I took my car in for service, walked around the neighborhood, and found color everywhere!

The yellow hibiscus is the state flower

... today, we are spending the day (and night) at Bellows Beach!

How was your week?

Mahalo,

Kim in Hawaii

  2. My week was spent trying to get over a sinus infection. Thankfully, I am now feeling better, not yet 100% but much better than I was a week ago.

  3. Happy belated birthday! Ooh, tiramisu! Yum!

My week was rather trying so I'm looking forward to the weekend. Perhaps I'll go to the beach, too, if it's not too foggy.

  9. OMG!! tiramisu!!! I worked with a woman who was 2nd generation Italian.. she would make this and our small office was the MOST POPULAR one in the building... But according to her mother, she cheated by not making the ladyfingers from scratch... but we didn't care!!

  11. Happy Birthday Kim! Sounds like you had a good day! The week has been going okay. Today my husband's sister is in town and we are going to visit with her which will be very nice. We don't get to see her too often, so I'm looking forward to the day. Have a great day!

  15. Happy belated birthday Kim. I did leave you a message on your Facebook page on Thursday.

I had a bit of a rough week, but it got better towards the end. Now, we're watching Issac to make sure that we're not going to be affected in southern Florida. It's not looking too good though!!

My favorite type of birthday cakes are the English ones. Sponge cake with raspberry filling, and iced in marzipan and soft royal icing.

  20. Spent the first part of the week with a sinus infection. Was surprised yesterday when my husband was home for the day and ended with lunch with a girlfriend I haven't seen for quite some time.

I love Tiramisu, but have never seen it in a cake like your picture.

  22. Happy Belated Birthday, Kim! It sounds like you had a good week.
I had an okay week. Went to the doctor only for her to send me to another one. :)
I had a good week with the little one though, taking him out to do things and have fun with other kids.
