In the Pink with Avon Romance - Avon Addict Profile

I love to share books ... and I want to share my Avon Addict status with you!  Here's the questions I received from Avon's PR team to update my profile ... how would you answer them?

· Picture or Avatar

I hate pictures of myself (waiting to loose those pesky pounds)  ... so I prefer an avatar of pictures I take around Hawaii.

· Hometown

Do military personnel have home towns?  We own a condo in Safety Harbor, Florida ... but my heart is firmly planted here in Pearl Harbor.

· Favorite Avon Author

That's like asking which is your favorite child!  My default is Cathy Maxwell, Navy veteran and inspiring friend who shares my love of chocolate!

Anne Elizabeth caught us eating
chocolate ice cream at RT/Chicago!

· Favorite Romance (ever)

I offer you a Hawaiian legend of lovers.  From Lehua Ukulele (at this link),

One day Pele, the goddess of the volcano, met a handsome young man named Ohia. She desired to have him as her sweetheart. He confessed that he already was in love with another young girl, Lehua. This enraged Pele and she used her magical powers to transform the young man into the ugly Ohia tree. Lehua was terribly sad and pleaded with Pele to return the young man back to his human form. Pele refused so Lehua begged the gods to help her to be reunited with Ohia. Instead of changing Ohia back to a human, the gods transformed Lehua into a lovely red blossom to adorn the Ohia tree. Now when anyone picks a Lehua blossom, it will rain because the lovers have been separated.

  1. On my profile for my blog and on fb I have an avatar. I don't much like pictures because I can show what I like in an avatar much better. On my blog my avatar is Nick from Forever Night because I loved that show and on my fb page it's of a rat because I love rats. Now when someone looks at those avatars they can see that right away.

Favorite author? I could not pick just one...there's no way.

I don't have answers for the other questions. I don't know, I'll have to think ao=bout those.
My hometown is Redondo Beach, California but I've lived in Las Vegas for more year than I lived in Redondo Beach, so I don't know what to do there.

  2. My life story would be called -- Life Is Nothing But A Seven - Ten Split!!!

I have to many favorite authors to name just one.

    My hometown is Chicago, IL.

  3. I have an Avatar of Gregory Peck reading, LOVE,LOVE this man. On Goodreads it's an Avatar of actress Hedy Lamarr from way back.I hate photos of myself.
One of my all time favorite romance books is Queen Hereafter by Susan King, don't know if you'd call it romance because it's actually historical fiction based on the life of St. Margaret/Queen of Scotland and her husband King of Scotland Malcolm. Please have many boxes of tissues handy.
I'm from a suburb in New Jersey. I can't pick one favorite Author but I do devour Cathy Maxwell's books also.

  4. I too do not like pictures of me. Somehow I always look strange at them & I already get nervous if I have to take one. That always shows :( I got a picture of a pretty pink rose that grew in my garden as an avatar right now.

oh Cathy Maxwell is a fab author! Love her stuff. But one of my all time fav authors is Julia Quinn. (Also like Jane Austen but sadly there won't be any new boks from her pen.)

  6. I like to be behind the camera most of the time so I can avoid pictures of me. I think it's awesome you were picked to be a Avon Addict. I am so happy for you and jealous at the same time. =) I <3 Cathy Maxwell's books. She was one of the first authors I picked up when I began reading historical and I've been hooked ever since.

  7. I try to use my "Union Jack" pic as my Avatar. I hate seeing myself in photos' and always think that I look terrible.

I've quite a few Avon Authors that I love, too many to mention.

That rocks that you're one of the chosen "Avon Addicts".

  8. I really like the pictures of Hawaii you choose for your avatars and post on your blog posts. It loks like a very beautiful place. This is the first time I've heard of the Lehua blossom tale. I wonder if you've ever tried picking one and if it did rain?

  9. Hi Kim! It's really awesome that you were picked to be an Avon Addict! Congratulations! I love Avon stories and their authors. I love your pictures of Hawaii and your blog. I learn so much from them. I don't have an avatar, except on Facebook, and it is a picture of my DH and I taken at our niece's house before her wedding. I did have a picture of one of our dogs on eHarlequin until they revamped, and I lost it. I was raised in Shawnee, KS, and when we married, we just moved across the railroad tracks and live about 2 miles from there now.

Stories from my life would be "Still in love after 40 years," "At home with my DH and 3 dogs," "Reading another book," "On the Internet again," or Entering contests at my favorite blog sites."

  10. My avatar on most sites is a cat - no surprise there. And my life would be LOLcats :) I've always lived in Pittsburgh (except 7 mo. in Gulfport, MS). To be honest, I have no clue which authors are exclusively Avon. To name a current favorite author I would say Kathryne Kennedy. Favorite romance would be Clan of the Cave Bear by Jean Auel. Not your typical romance but I think it still qualifies lol.

  11. My favorite author is hard to pick... That's like picking a picking a favorite child. But my regular favorites are Eloisa James, Julie Anne Long and Julia Quinn.

My favorite romance is actually The Princess Bride even though it's not a typical romance. But there's romance, adventure, sword fighting...

  12. I don't have any pic for my avatar. Some of my favorite Avon authors include Colleen Gleason, Lisa Kleypas and Gaelen Foley. My hometown is NYC.

  13. For my blogger account its a pic of me and for my Wordpress account it's a stargazer lily. I love so many authors. I just can't pick one. My hometown is Lompoc, CA. However, I think. My heart lies in the south.

  14. I like my harbor seal avatar. I took this photo years ago and the setting sun really lit the seal well. I can't help but feel the seal was not happy with me even though I wasn't close to it (marine mammal rules).

  15. Picture or Avatar: I like the picture I took with my nose in a book, it fits me.
Hometown: I usually pick the town I lived in the longest - Westminster, California, although I was born in La Jolla, California and now I live in Orlando, FL.
    Favorite Avon Author: Eloisa James
Favorite Romance ever: Too many to list

  16. My picture is of LSU's Mike the Tiger, in snow.
    Houma, La. is my hometown.
My favorite Avon author is Tessa Dare.
Gone With the Wind is my favorite romance.
    Title: This IS my Life...Really!

  17. I would prefer an avatar. I hate my pictures. I was raised in the military and I do not consider myself as having a home town.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I hate having my picture taken, so it's avatar all the way. What qualifies a place as a hometown? I don't have anyplace that I would call my hometown. We/I've moved often. I don't have a 'favorite' author - love'em all. No answers for the other questions.

  19. Hahahaha, Kim...Cheeseburger in Paradise. Your so cute!
Fun questions, I am with you on the avatar. That is why I have a picture of my Siberian Husky for my photo on everything. Only because I don't think everyone and their dog (haha, get it) need to know what I look like. Privacy, I like it.
Home town I could put the childhood home of Laura Ingalls Wilder =)
Favorite Avon author, I love Jeaniene Frost, Pamela Palmer, and Eloisa James.
Good answer for fave romance...I don't know what to pick! ah!

  20. I like any books by Lisa Kleypas.

  21. I always avoid pictures of myself whenever possible :) My little icon/avatar is a purple butterfly, but I do change it out at times for things like Breast Cancer Awareness, Epilepsy Awareness, etc. My hometown I consider Winchester, KY (moved there in 1st grade and lived there until I was about 23 or so). As for favorite Avon author...hard choice! I would probably go with my first two addictions from their books. Lynsay Sands (who I thank/blame for my addiction) and Kerrelyn Sparks. Both authors are great and auto-buys for me. Whenever I need a good, fun paranormal, they are the authors I turn to/think of first :)

  22. Picture or Avatar- Avatar ( I'm too old and ugly for my picture)
Hometown We live in Los Angeles California I want the country back
Favorite Avon Author, I love Avon books and have many favorite Authors but the first on my list would be Eloisa James.
Favorite Romance (ever) I would go along with you on the Hawaiian Legend of Lovers I love that.
If your life were a romance novel – it’s title would be?
Sad case of life! sorry been sick for too long! Might have to have ear surgery.

  23. I don't like having my photograph taken, so I'd take an avatar any day. I moved around a lot as a child, so home was a different place every few years.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I,too, would prefer an avatar. I don't like having my picture taken either! lol I've lived in Pittsburgh, PA all my life and I don't expect that to ever change.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I obviously prefer an avatar and for the same reason. My weight has definately gotten away from me! As far as the romance, I have a song that I absolutely LOVE that reminds me of my "after divorce romance" ever time that I hear it and I would LOVE to "live it". KEY LARGO!

  26. It seems like almost everyone uses Avatar and not the picture of themselves. Well, I'm no different from the rest. For my FB I use a picture of an artwork design of a monster, while on my Blogger and Twitter, I use an Avatar of a girl reading a book while sitting on her bed with the title "Librocubicularist" meaning "A person who reads in bed" and that's so me! :D I've always love Kathleen E. Woodiwiss, her books are just ah!mazing!

  27. My avatar is a picture from the inside cover of Jeaniene Frost's book, At Graves End. The picture features Cat and Bones. Which is a great segway into my favorite Avon author, which is a tie between Jeaniene Frost and Pamela Palmer. Thank you for the chance to win!

  28. *I'd say, avatars all the way. Things blow up way too fast and furious on the interwebs and having even that little bit of anonymity can be a blessing.
*Birthtown is actually in S. Korea but my hometown where I grew up is in Nebraska. Go Huskers!
    *I can't pick favorite authors :)
*Ummm... Mother of 3... dogs and loving it!

  30. I'm with you there about not liking pictures of yourself much, I'm the same way... so if I were to use a pic as an avatar, I would usually choose some kind of pretty or cute icon I find rather than a real pic of myself.

My favourite Avon author would be Jeaniene Frost! I absolutely love the Night Huntress series :)

  31. I do not care for pictures of myself either. My favorite romance ever is probably Pride and Prejudice. There are so many great Avon authors but I think Lorraine Heath is my favorite.
