Aloha to Anna Campbell and SEVEN NIGHTS IN A ROGUE'S BED

The Rule of Seven by Anna Campbell

Hi Kim! Absolutely delighted to be here today. Thank you so much for inviting me. Let’s have some fun!

Seven seems to be one of those mystical numbers. You know, Seven Wonders of the World. Seven Dwarfs. Seven Deadly Sins. SEVEN NIGHTS IN A ROGUE’S BED! Which just happens to be my seventh book. I know, spooky, huh?

Strangely when I titled my latest historical romance SEVEN NIGHTS IN A ROGUE’S BED (25th September, Grand Central Publishing), the potential of having seven in the title didn’t strike me. I just wanted to make it clear that Sidonie and Jonas have a week to fall in love before they have to brave the dangers of the outside world.

Much of my current blog tour has focused on all things seven (pass the 7Up!). You know, if I don’t have seven lucky years after this, it won’t be for want of trying. Today, I thought I’d make a list of my seven favorite romantic movies. My tastes are fairly old school so I wouldn’t be surprised if you’ve got quite a different selection. I’d love to hear it!

7. THE STORY OF THREE LOVES: this one’s here mainly for the first segment of the three novellas, “The Jealous Lover.” I always cry my eyes out at James Mason as the imperious ballet impresario falling in love with doomed and beautiful dancer Moira Shearer. And all to rhapsodic Rachmaninov? How could it fail?

6. THE LAST OF THE MOHICANS: “I will find you!” How could any woman fail to thrill at Daniel Day Lewis’s impassioned plea to the woman he loves before he abandons her to captivity? The kiss in this film is a doozy. Firelight, artillery exploding, gorgeous driving Scottish music playing. Sigh!

5. NOTORIOUS: Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman are as electric as lightning in this 1946 film. It’s got one of the best kiss scenes ever. I’m a sucker for the longing between these characters who fall in love very much against their instincts for self-preservation.

4. HOW TO STEAL A MILLION: I had to include an Audrey Hepburn film. I nearly went for Breakfast at Tiffany’s or Roman Holiday, but this one with Peter O’Toole sparkles like champagne and it’s got such clever dialogue and great sexual tension. Not to mention Audrey in extremely groovy 60s Givenchy!

3. AN AFFAIR TO REMEMBER: Old school romance with a capital OSR! More Cary Grant goodness as the playboy hero who discovers real love almost too late with Deborah Kerr. “Turn the ship around!”

2. DIRTY DANCING: This one was nearly number 1. I’ve seen Dirty Dancing so often, I know the dialogue by heart. Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey are magic together, the perfect bad boy/good girl romance.

1. THE GHOST AND MRS. MUIR: This one’s just the most exquisite romance I know. Beautiful young widow Gene Tierney moves into an eerie house overlooking the sea and falls in love with sexy, sardonic ghost Rex Harrison. Haunting in every sense of the word! And the soundtrack is gorgeous.

I’m really surprised at how many weepies made my list. When I read a romance, I want a happy ending, but clearly I’m not so fussy in my favorite movies. And there’s a definite bias toward old time films. The Last of the Mohicans (1992) is the most recent film on my list. Maybe there’s a reason I write historical romance!

So have you seen any of these? Any of your own favorites make the list? What are your seven favorite romantic movies? I’m a bit of a list junkie so I’d love to see your selection! I’ve got a signed copy of SEVEN NIGHTS IN A ROGUE’S BED up for grabs to a commenter today. Good luck!

Mahalo, Anna, for joining us today at SOS Aloha!    I met you in July 2010 at RomCon ... the seventh month.  On the flight home, Hawaiian Airlines played THE RIDE - a loving tribute to surfing legend Duke Kahanamoku, who died at age seventy seven.  THE RIDE features a time travel romance with a cast of seven major characters - check it out at this link.

Scot Davis and Sean Kaawa in THE RIDE.

Anna's contest is open through Saturday, October 20, 10 pm in Hawaii.  I'll post the winner on Sunday, October 21.

  2. Aloha, Anna and Kim!

Congrats on the release of Seven Nights in a Rogue's Bed, Anna! I love your list of seven magnificent movies. Dirty Dancing is one of my all-time favourites. I'm sure I've seen it 700 times since 1988! Okay, maybe it's closer to 70 times. The point is I'll never tire of it, just like I'll never tire of your stories. :)

    1. Hmm, Vanessa, do you like Dirty Dancing? I didn't know that! For those not in the know, Vanessa doesn't just like Dirty Dancing, she wants to have its babies. That's how much she loves it! ;-) But ooh, now I see that you said something really lovely at the end so I should stop teasing you! Thank you! What a lovely thing to say!

  3. Congrats on your new release Anna.

My favorite movies in no order are:

    1. Breakfast at Tiffany's
    2. Gone With the Wind
    3. An Affair to Remember
    4. The Bridges of Madison County
    5. Titanic
    6. Ghost
    7. Sweet November

    1. Hey, Danielle, great to see you here. Do you mean the new Sweet November or the old one? Did you know it's a remake? The old one's kinda hokey but really romantic. And I cried buckets! Mind you, I cried buckets at Bridges of MC too. That scene when she's in the car in the rain and nearly gets out to go to him - howled like a banshee! They're magic together, Meryl and Clint. I LOVE Breakfast at Tiffany's - it nearly made it instead of HTSAM. I think HTSAM won because I've got a thing for Peter O'Toole!

  4. Aloha Anna and Kim! Now you're talking about my favourite two subjects - great books and classic movies!

Not surprisingly Anna and I share similar taste in movies - The Ghost and Mrs Muir, Notorious, How to Steal a Million, Dirty Dancing, An Affair to Remember and Last of the Mohicans. Of course, now that Anna has mentioned those, I can use 7 others *g*.

    1. Charade
    2. The Philadelphia Story
    3. My Favourite Wife (Hmm - bit of a Cary Grant theme)
    4. Desk Set
    5. You've Got Mail
    6. Tombstone
    7. Pillow Talk

Oh and just to be a rebel *g* - Men in Black and Pretty in Pink too.

    1. Oh forgot Straight Talk too *g* Hmm Maybe I need a second set of 7 ... ;)

    2. Anna, the list changes all the time, doesn't it? Actually I'm not surprised our faves overlap so much. We both love old movies! And Cary Grant! LOVE Charade! Best dialogue EVAH! Pillow Talk is huge fun - love Rock Hudson pretending to be the Texan! And the clothes are to die for. My Favorite Wife is hilarious - that first sight of Randolph Scott is a classic. Tombstone is great too - talk about man candy. I don't think Val Kilmer was ever as sexy in anything else (although he was great as Mad Martigan in Willow).

  5. Anna and Kim, what a great post! I love romantic movies, usually with some humor thrown in (no surprise there!). I'll admit I haven't seen a couple of those on your list, Anna. I obviously have some catching up to do! Here is my list:

    1. Fifty First Dates - Yes, I know it's an Adam Sandler movie, but the whole premise is so incredibly romantic! If you can ignore Rob Schneider, it's almost perfect. :)

    2. Moonstruck - I am a total sucker for this movie and have seen it so many times that I almost know the script by heart. "Chrissy, bring me the big knife!" What is more wonderful than a completely tormented hero who loves opera? It's also hilarious.

    3. Fever Pitch - Yes, another Drew Barrymore film, this one with Jimmy Fallon. He is a great actor and I wish he would do more films! This is definitely a laugh and cry movie. So wonderfully sad and touching.

    4. Sleepless in Seattle - Okay, you could also put "You've Got Mail" here, because I'm a sucker for a Meg Ryan/Tom Hanks movie. The little boy in this movie is such a piece of work and the heroine's obsession with "An Affair to Remember" is perfection. I adored Nora Ephron! Speaking of whom...

    5. When Harry Met Sally - This movie is another one where I know all the lines. Not only does it have Meg Ryan, but also Billy Crystal! Billy isn't typical leading man material, but man does he shine in this movie. Plus it has Carrie Fisher! And it's by Nora Ephron!!

    6. A Very Long Engagement - *sigh* What a heartbreaker! It does have some light episodes of humor, but at its heart it's a story about the effects of war on relationships. It is a French film starring Audrey Tautou (she's my French Drew Barrymore) and is set just after World War I (with flashbacks to the war). Heartwarming and heart-wrenching! It gets my highest recommendation. Yes, I own it. We watch it on a regular basis along with...

    7. Amelie - I told you Audrey Tautou is my French Drew Barrymore! This one is wonderful and ridiculous and insanely romantic. Amelie is painfully shy and remote, but intensely involved in the lives of her neighbors and co-workers. She finds love in a really funny and sweet way. Plus, it's where the original traveling gnome came from!!

Man, now I want to skip work to stay home and watch ALL of these movies (because, of course, I own all of them). There are many more romantic movies I love, but these have a special place in my heart!

Kim, thanks for having Anna over and I apologize for using the blog's entire stock of exclamation points for the day!!! :)

    1. Caren, what a fabulous essay on your fave films and why you love them! Wow, what an interesting list. Offbeat and fascinating, a bit like you, my friend! I haven't seen a couple of those - I must admit there were a few years in the mid-2000s where I wasn't going to the movies and I didn't have a DVD player. Must catch up on the ones that have passed me by. Thanks for the list!!! Oh, no, more exclamation marks! LOL!

  6. I love old movies, they often make my list before more modern movies. they just don't make them the same anymore ;) The Ghost & Mrs Muir is a classic but oh so sweet tale of love. I can remember the tv show as well & enjoyed it too. The Quiet Man is one of my fave romantic movies -- wonderfully acted, beautiful scenery, a tale of honor & pride as well as love, with lots of tender as well as fun moments :) looking forward to your latest & hope you get at least 7 years of good luck

    1. Hey, Gamistress, love the 7 years of good luck wish. Right back atcha! We've spoken before about our love of old movies. As you say, I think there's a lovely feel about those old-fashioned stories that I think we've lost. Which certainly isn't to say they're not making good movies now, they are. I love the Quiet Man! John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara were great together, weren't they? Apparently there was never a romance there. They were just good friends. But man, could they light up a screen!

Wonderful! If she's ever anywhere near you, I highly recommend going. I LOVE Leap Year - it's one of my favorite romances of recent years. Another one is My Life in Ruins. Either were just outside my top 7. Notting Hill is great too - must see that again. Haven't seen it since it first came out when I loved it. Hugh Grant is great at romcom, isn't he?

    1. Ghost
    2. Just Like Heaven

    1. May, what a great list! I'm so glad you're another Notorious fan. I think the sexual tension between those two is so strong. And when he realizes she's been poisoned, oh, man, wrenches my heart out every time. Love the Lady Eve too - Henry Fonda makes a really sexy geek, doesn't he? Barbra Stanwyck was great in those clever women roles. Another favorite is the original Christmas in Connecticut - she's just fabulous in that!

  11. LOL! I am slightly embarrassed to admit that of your list, I've seen exactly... none of them ;p I KNOW! I don't watch many movies--I think a few on my list are:

    - Princess Bride -- "As you wish..." :)
    - Ever After
    - Say Anything
    - When Harry Met Sally

Yes... I do tend to prefer ones that can also make me laugh :)

I have a thing for Mandy Patinkin (love men who can sing and he's got such beautiful flashing dark eyes) and I think he's wonderful as Inigo Montoya. Caught Harry and Sally on cable a couple of months ago and realized I'd forgotten just how good it is.

    2. "My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die." Mandy Patinkin is amazing. I loved the short-lived series Dead Like Me. I am tempted to watch Homeland just for him (though I love Claire Danes, too!). *sigh*

No. 1 in my opinion, has to be "Dirty Dancing". I actually have the video of this.

    2. I loved "The Holiday".

    3. I've also seen "Gone with the Wind" a few times. Mmm, Clark Gable. *sigh*

    4. "Romancing the Stone", I liked that a lot.

    5. "Notting Hill". This is where I actually grew up in London, so loved that one a lot.

    6. "An Affair to Remember" with Cary Grant. Such a handsome, charming and charismatic man.

    7. "Titanic", I cry everytime I watch it.

Also love Dirty Dancing -- it was the first movie I saw twice in the theater. Two of my other favorite romantic movies, which I've not seen on any list here, is Leap Year with Amy Adams and Matthew Goode and Penelope with Christina Ricci and James McAvoy. 21. Hi, Kim and Anna--what a fun post!

Would you believe I've seen only Last of the Mohicans? Great movie.

There're a lot of movies I love, so the favorite seven varies from day to day, though some are always there.

1- Top Always Favorite - To Kill A Mockingbird. I love the family and small-town dynamics, the way Tom Robinson's trial makes people think again about their prejudices (but without resort to stereotypes).

2 - Always on the list - Original Star Wars. It still has what a fannish friend called "built in nifty appeal," is great fun, and singlehandedly revived the SF movie genre.

3 - Another always entry - The Lord of the Rings. I count the whole trilogy as one because I have a single volume containing all three books.

4 - Music & Lyrics. This Hugh Grant/Drew Barrymore vehicle is, imho, seriously underrated. Great chemistry berween the leads, wonderful supporting cast, excellent conflict and bumor.

5 - The Scarlet Pimpernel. Tough to find these days, but Leslie Howard and Merle Oberon were superb as Percy and Marguerite. Lots of action-adventure and derring do in a fine historical romance.

6 - The Thirteenth Warrior. My favorite Banderas role. He's a fish out of water, an Arab scholar on a quest with Viking warriors, who gradually learns to hold his own as they save a remote land from a mystic warrior cult. Lots of action and derring do here, as well, but not for the faint of heart,

7 - Terminator. I usually require HEA, but this story of the man who comes back in time to save the waitress whose son will become humanity's best hope gets me every time. Despite the ending. I love the way Linda Hamilton's character comes to grips with her destiny. And Michael Biehn's Kyle Reese is just so brave and noble.

    1. The last word of #4 is humor, not "bumor." sorry! I can't see well on the iPad.

    2. Wow, Nancy, what a superb list. You clearly like an epic flavor to your romances. Actually I LOVE that old Scarlet Pimpernel. I love the newer version with Anthony Andrews too but I think Jane Seymour lets Marguerite down whereas I think Merle Oberon was perfect. In fact, an SP should have been on my list! I love Music and Lyrics too - I agree with you about it being overrated. POP went my heart! Terminator is fantastic - such a beautifully constructed romance, even if it does end unhappily. Fabulous choices!

      Delete
    3. POP went my heart, indeed! I agree with you about the Andrews/Seymour Scarlet Pimpernel, but it Ian McKellan as a superb Chauvelin.

      Delete
    4. But so was Raymond Massey in the first one. In fact, I think he might edge out IM, don't shoot me! I think AA was better at the longing but LH was better at the foppery. Would love to see it again, it's been years. Re-read the book within the last year and loved it. It absolutely rattles along!

  22. Hi Anna! I loved The Last of The Mohicans, An Affair to Remember, Dirty Dancing, and The Ghost and Mrs. Muir. Some of my other favorites are Gone With the Wind with Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh, Mr Fair Lady with Audrey Hepburn and Rex Harrison, Ever After with Drew Barrymore, Bringing Up Baby with Katharine Hepburn and Cary Grant, My Man Godfrey with William Powell and Carol Lombard, Just Like Heaven with Reese Witherspoon and Mark Ruffalo, Love Story with Ali MacGraw and Ryan O'Neal, You've Got Mail with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. You've Got Mail was a takeoff from The Shop Around the Corner with Jimmy Stewart, that I also loved.

    1. Hi Cathy! Actually I have to say I prefer The Shop ATC to You've Got Mail. It always bothers me that she ends up losing her dream in YGM. I mean, I know she gets the guy and she becomes a writer, but it's set up as someone has to win and someone has to lose which always upsets me in a romance. Wonderful supporting cast in The Shop ATC too! I can see you're another old movie fan. And I really have to see Just Like Heaven. A few people have mentioned it here. I've never heard of it before!

    1. Amy, thanks for swinging by. What a great list of movies. Field of Dreams was on cable here last weekend and I watched it again. I'd forgotten how beautiful it was - I love that it's actually about the father and son, it's not really a sports movie at all. Shawshank Redemption is fantastic! Another fave I haven't seen in ages. Would you believe I've never seen The Blues Brothers? I need to shake my tail feather!

  25. Anna, it's great to read your list of seven. Yes, there IS something magical about that number!

I enjoyed the list you've posted though (ducking as I say it) Breakfast at T's isn't my fave. I think it's because George Peppard never really appealed to me as much as he obviously did to most females. I'd add Casablanca because the tenderness of that love triangle was so terrific. I recently watched The African Queen again and that struck me as a wonderfully sweet love story too. Definitely Notorious and The Ghost and Mrs Muir and most of the others you mentioned. And was it Anna who mentioned His Favourite Wife? Ghost is a wonderful love story too and always makes me sniffle. I tell myself it's the soundtrack... Ooh, and Ladyhawke - definitely. That sense of doomed love conquering against the odds is just tremendous.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane, Anna. I'm in the mood now for some great romantic viewing. Congratulations on the release of Seven Nights in a Rogue's Bed. It's one of your best stories to date and I know others are going to love the sheer depth of emotion in it. Sigh.

    1. Thanks for saying such lovely things about Rogue, Annie! It was a fairly intense experience writing it, as you know! ;-)

Interesting about Breakfast at T's. I think it's the only thing I liked GP in. Can't think of anything else outside a few WWII derring do films. Must have been more than that! And Audrey really isn't a very convincing call girl. Having said that, it's still a film I love. Perhaps because I saw it at a young age where it made a huge impression on me. I remember my mum letting me sit up late to watch it with her when I was about 11. A lot of the story went over my head but I remember loving the glamour and the romance.

I haven't seen Casablanca for years. Cried my eyes out the first time I saw it - I didn't know how it was going to end and I was young enough that the lines hadn't become cliches for me. Ingrid B is luminous in that, isn't she? Such a beautiful woman.

And you'll shoot me - I've never seen the African Queen! Definitely something I need to remedy!

    2. Anna! You have to see African Queen - it's fabulous! Definitely another favourite of mine. Talk about snappy dialogue and two wonderful actors having a fun time!

  27. Aloha, Anna and Kim!

Wow, Anna! The force of the 7s is very powerful for you for this book! I'm sure it will mean that it's a runaway success!

You've listed some awesome movies in your fave 7 - and a few that I'm going to have to put on my "must-see" list.

When I sat down to do my list of 7 fave love stories, I realised it's heavily weighted towards romantic comedy! So love and laughter for me with my movies, please! LOL

    1. Notting Hill
    2. Love actually
    3. The Wedding Date
    4. Romancing the Stone
    5. Jewel of the Nile
    6. True lies
    7. You've Got Mail

mmm, so I've just read through and I could make a list of fave suspence movies too... and then there's the Parry Potter movies! You know I could easily be a serious couch potato! LOL

    1. Sharon, I think you'd make a very pretty couch potato. That peony embroidered on your oopsy looks marvelous! ;-) Interesting you went for so many romcoms. I would have thought I was a romcom fiend. I was surprised when I did my list quite how many movies with sad endings I included. I've never seen The Wedding Date. Sounds like I need to!

My list, in no particular order, would be:
    1. Dirty Dancing
    2. Ghost
    3. Pretty Woman
    4. Hope Floats
    5. How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days
    6. Titanic
    7. Mr. & Mrs. Smith
(These are all older movies, I really don't watch much movies these days)

    1. June, great list. I've never seen Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Someone said there's a great kiss scene in it - love those. I love How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days - some really funny and sharp observations of the sexes in that.

    2. ooooo, and we have Mr and Mrs Smith to tempt you with too... and Salt - have you seen that?

  29. So many great movies to choose from.
    1. Dirty Dancing - you just can't go past the dance scene when they first make love - goosebumps every time I watch it - to tender yet erotic without being crass and over the top - and the story itself!
    2. Romancing the stone - opposites DO attract, and having an adventure together makes it all the more fun to fall in love.
    3. PS I Love you. Sad in places yet uplifting. And who doesn't love a good looking Irishman or two.
    4. The Notebook. Love that endures is inspiring.
    5. Sweet Home Alabama. Comedy, romance, three great leads and a quirky story. Nuff said!
    6. Ever After. Twisted fairy tales get me every time - add a heroine with attitude and its even better.
    7. Ghost - Sweet November - Ghost - Sweet November - DAMN!!! can't decide LOL
    This is my A list - then there's the B list, then C, D, E, F......it goes on...and on
Love your writing Anna - keep the stories coming

    1. Thanks so much, Natasha! So glad you love the books. What a great list and what great reasons to love them. I REALLY have to see the Notebook, I can tell! It's really tough to narrow it down to 7. I kind of cheated by saying well, I near chose X, but went for Y and in the end, picked Z. I'm so glad there are so many Dirty Dancing fans out there. I think it's such a great movie!

I can't think of seven, but here are a few of my favorites: The Quiet Man, Romancing the Stone, One Fine Day and Sleepless in Seattle.

    1. Barbara, one of the nice things about 7 in the title is that it lends itself to lists. There's still fave love songs and facts about Australia to come at various blogs, LOL! Love your faves. The Quiet Man already got some love and I can see why.

  31. I love so many of the movies here. I never quite got Breakfast at Tiffany's. A little too sordid. When I grew up and saw Cabaret with adult eyes I nearly threw up. I sort of liked the Notebook but glaze over the middle bit where he's got another woman. I guess that's one of the reasons I like older movies. It's only the odd ones that are explicit about sordid pasts and so on.

    1. Fiona, I have to say I've always loved Cabaret, in spite of the grim material. My favorite scene is the one where the Nazis sing - not sure what that says about me, LOL! I agree with you about older movies having that pure romanticism. I'm not crazy on them sleeping around with other people either.

  33. Hi Anna and Kim
Wow, seven books--I've read your first six and am looking forward to reading SEVEN NIGHTS IN A ROGUE'S BED.
I love all the movies you mention and agree with Annie West that you simply must see The African Queen.
Another favorite romantic movie of mine is Just Like Heaven. Reese Witherspoon plays a beautiful young doctor who is in a coma but her spirit visits yummy landscape architect and ghost sceptic Mark Ruffalo who moves into her apartment when it is sub let. Love it.
And of course Dirty Dancing and The Notebook.
Please don't put me in the draw for a copy of SEVEN NIGHT'S IN A ROGUE'S BED as I have a copy winging its way to me.

  34. Kandy, thanks for saying you're looking forward to Seven Nights! I really need to see Just Like Heaven. As I said, weird I'd never even heard about it. Sounds a little bit like the Lake House with Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves which got killed by the critics but which I liked a lot. I like mystical love stories - hey, look where the Ghost and Mrs. Muir came on my list. Things like a Portrait of Jennie and Pandora and the Flying Dutchman are faves too.

Actually I'm still waiting on author copies so your book is winging its way to me first and THEN you! LOL!

  35. Hi Kim and Anna!

I love romantic movies so narrowing it down to just 7 took longer than I expected! I loved your list Anna and I have a feeling that NetFlix is going to be running out of a lot of titles soon!

My FAVORITE without any hesitation was The Notebook and the scenes with Gena Rowlands and James Garner being the most poignant and moving of them all!

The other six are really a mix of time periods and a menage of a little this and a little that are:

    Notting Hill
    Titanic
    When Harry Met Sally
    Kate and Leopold
    Gold With The Wind
    Sweet Home Alabama

I must admit that the one scene in a movie that is my all time favorite (and made me laugh the most) was THAT scene in When Harry Met Sally! Like in a real life romance you never forget that ONE thing that made you laugh.

    1. Jeanne, I was so sad recently when Nora Ephron passed away. I think she had such insight into male/female relations and she did most of it with a twinkle in her eye. An irreplacable talent, I think. Love the scene in Sleepless in Seattle where the two blokes are talking about Tom Hanks getting back into dating and his friend asks him if he knows what tiramisu is and he thinks it's some weird new sexual practice! Hugh J is just gorgeous in Kate and Leopold, isn't he? Thanks so much for swinging by - and I definitely need to see the Notebook!

I think it might even be edging out Dirty Dancing as the fave!

All great ones you named, though I would have to add If A Man Answers. Its an oldie, but so cute and a great love story. My sister and I would watch it together, my Mom could never believe we liked such an old movie.

    5. Legends Of The Fall

    3. Leah, I can see you've got a fondness for weepies too. I haven't seen Tristan and Isolde but that's such a sad story. Dances with Wolves isn't a barrel of laughs either although it's a fabulous story - love the music, I often write to it. I haven't seen Troy but I've got the soundtrack - more great writing music! There's something about epics and music that just seems to work!

    1. Molly, I'm so glad you mentioned The Saint. I think the romance in that is just beautifully done. That moment when he realises he can't go through with leading her up the garden path always gets me right in the heart. And it's lovely to have such a clever, beautiful heroine as Elizabeth Shue. And the fact that he obviously finds her brains as sexy as the rest of her. Great choice!

  41. I Love 'Last of the Mohicans' - and I love to listen to it's soundtrack. Here's some other's I love too:
    - Seven Brides for Seven Brothers
    - Robin Hookd - Prince of Theives (Kevin Costner)
    - Robin Hood - Russell Crowe
    - Pride & Prejudice - all of them
I don't re-watch the weepies so much - I want the HEA and to feel happy when they are over.

I even like the old one with Laurence Olivier and Greer Garson. They're both too old and the costumes are AWFUL but the charm of the performances is absolutely lovely.
