On Sunday, the travel section in the local paper featured a story about Ireland. Sigh. Eire. Just a bit too far for me to visit from Hawaii ... but Hawaii and Ireland have much in common - islands being lush and green. Magical little people. And gorgeous golf courses.

You can imagine I was delighted to receive an email from Irish author Anya Wylde - her Regency Murder Mystery, THE WICKED WAGER, will be free from Amazon from November 1 - 5 at this link. Of course I invited her for a cozy chat. From her Amazon bio,
Anya Wylde lives in Ireland along with her husband and a fat French poodle (now on a diet). She can cook a mean curry, and her idea of exercise is occasionally stretching her toes. She holds a degree in English literature and adores reading and writing.

Kim: We love international travel here at SOS Aloha! Eire - what is your favorite sight, sound, and smell?
Anya: In Ireland what you see is emerald green landscapes, what you smell is the cold ocean breeze, and what you hear is the rain and the wind. I love all three because it makes me feel at home.

Kim: Curry! What is your secret ingredient? What is the recipe for a delicious murder mystery?
Anya: A delicious mystery or a good curry has one thing in common and that is garam masala. In other words both contain a good blend of assorted spices. My recipe for a delicious murder mystery is as follows:
To make the Marinade
Take a few oddball characters and throw them together in a controlled environment for a set period of time.
To make the curry
Light the flame and create a heated situation where the raw and tender characters start steaming and simmering in frustration.
Throw in the spices and stir. This will further agitate the characters.
Next kill off the parasite (victim) and let the curry come to a boil.
Wait until the characters are soft and falling apart. Then add some soothing cream or yogurt and reveal the murderer.
Remove the cinnamon stick that is the murder from the mix, and you are left with a smooth environment, a happy ending, and a delicious satisfying curry.

Kim: Tell us about THE WICKED WAGER?
Anya: The Wicked Wager is a farcical Regency comedy. It has plenty of romance and a bit of murder mystery. Richard, a reformed rake, wants to marry Emma but her uncle the Duke of Arden wants the couple to wait a year. Richard wants to speed up the wedding, and for that purpose he concocts a seemingly simple plan. The plan starts falling apart from the very beginning and reaches a head when a murder is committed. Richard becomes a suspect which is a tad inconvenient. His dreams of walking down the aisle turn into nightmares of dangling from the noose.

2. This giveaway is open to all readers.
3. Comments are open through Saturday, November 3, 10 pm in Hawaii. I'll post the winner on Sunday, November 4.

Thanks for the link, I just downloaded the ebook.
ReplyDeleteI play pinochle once a month with my high school friends and yes we do play for money. I love slot machines.
Just the lottery when the jackpot is really high like 50 million.... But otherwise, I don't gamble.
ReplyDeleteI live in Vegas... 'nuff said. LOL
ReplyDeleteYes, I've been known to make a wager, place a bet, play the slot machines, play video poker, even bet my hubby that he can or can't do something.
I do occasionally buy lottery tickets and I like to play blackjack.
ReplyDeleteI buy scratch off lottery tickets sometimes. I lose more times than I win, so I get disheartened very easily.
ReplyDeleteI play cards with my younger siblings. A wholesome card game with no money involve, just for fun.
ReplyDeleteWe go to Las Vegas infrequently, but when we do go, I play roulette or video poker. Hubby is quite good at craps.
ReplyDeleteI've always enjoyed games of any kind and games of chance can be a lot of fun. A friend and I occasionally visit the casinos for a day of fun. We also play some games for quarters with friends and family. Nothing too expensive lol.
ReplyDeleteI play cards and other games but don't gamble, not even lottery tickets.
ReplyDeleteI just play cards for fun. I don't do any gambling.
ReplyDeleteI went through a faze of buying scratch off lottery tickets last Christmas. They had such pretty ones for the holidays. Such a dumb reason to buy them, but I never had before. After $20 and a $3 win I decided to stick to shopping and not gambling to spend my money. My husband on the other hand still loves a scratcher.
ReplyDeleteI always lose my money unless we are playing for pennies, then I win
ReplyDeleteI don't play cards or dice. Rarely buy lottery tickets/scratch offs.
ReplyDeleteNo wagers
ReplyDeleteI don't gamble in any form. The card games we play are just for points, nothing tangible. Gloating rights really.
ReplyDeleteI think i only gamble in book giveaway lol
ReplyDeleteI've 2-3 times put my money in lottery long ago but i'm not doing it anymore, not really like to gamble, have no luck in gamble
No, i suck at playing cards even easy games. I buy a lotto ticket every once in a great while but never won anything!
ReplyDeleteI would play cards for fun at times but no money is involved :)
