As I write this blog, my kids are watching the "Coots and Ladders" episode of FRASIER on the Hallmark channel. Frasier confided his latest drama to Niles, "It was a dark and stormy night ...." Frasier inspires me to play Six Degrees of Separation with today's featured authors, Cynthia Garner and Kendra Leigh Castle ...
1. Cynthia Garner writes in her bio (at this link),
My interest in writing got an early start when my sixth grade teacher told us to complete the following sentence: “It was a dark and stormy night…” With that my love of all things paranormal was born.
2. Kendra Leigh Castle credits another role model for discovering romance. From her bio (at this link),
Sneaking off with selections from her mother’s vast collection of romance novels came naturally and fairly early, and a lifelong love of the Happily Ever After was born.
3. Cynthia is the creator of the Warriors of the Rift series. From Romantic Times, "... a cool premise and interesting characters. One to watch!"

4. Kendra is the creator of the Dark Dynasties series. From Romantic Times, "Castle's world-building is superb and leaves readers wanting more."
5. Cynthia is eagerly awaiting the release of HEART OF THE DEMON, Book 2, on February 26:
Warriors of the Rift
Once a generation, the rift between the paranormal world and the human world opens, allowing supernatural entities to cross. Vampire, demon, or shapeshifter, they can save the world-or send it spiraling into chaos.
The next opening of the rift is coming-and its consequences will be deadly. A rogue group of human-hating preternaturals is planning an apocalyptic attack, but the Council of Preternaturals may have found the key to saving the world: Keira O'Brien, a fey with a long criminal record, whose empathic abilities once made her the queen of con artists. If she successfully infiltrates the dangerous faction, the sins of her past will be forgiven.
Keira isn't the only agent working against the rogue prets. Finn Evnissyen, a powerful demon with a dark lineage, is a hired assassin looking for a way out. If he stops the threat, he will finally earn his freedom. As the rift fast approaches, and danger escalates, Finn and Keira must discover if they're on the same side-or sleeping with the enemy . . .
6. Kendra welcomed IMMORTAL CRAVINGS, Dark Dynasties Book 4, on January 29:
The last-and most lethal-of his kind . . .
Wild, uncontrollable, and powerful, the lion-shifting Rakshasa were hunted down by vicious rival vampires who feared their dark, magical abilities. Somehow one survived, and now, after centuries of hiding, Tasmin Singh reemerges as fierce and fearless as ever at the door of the Lilim queen, seeking answers . . . and sanctuary.
The human best friend to a vampire queen, Bay Harper traded her quiet, comfortable life for a world filled with immortal assassins, warring werewolves . . . and this hauntingly sexy shifter. Only Bay's gentle touch can subdue Tasmin's inner demons, even as he brings out a passion and sensuality she never imagined she could feel. But when a bloody struggle threatens to tear them apart, can Bay risk everything on her faith in him-or will his dark side be stronger than even their all-consuming desire?

and I was snuggled down in bed reading a good book, listening to the wind howling outside, and the rain lashing against the window.
ReplyDeleteWhen nobody know that someone behind the curtain was watched warily the young lady sleep in her bed and waiting the perfect time to bite her neck and drain her blood..
ReplyDeleteIt was a dark and stormy night ... but unbeknownst to our unsuspecting heroine, the real danger lie inside the manor... :)

"It was a dark and stormy night, when I heard a wolf howling not to far away and suddenly a tall dark and maybe dangerous man walked out of the woods toward me.
ReplyDeleteIt was a dark and stormy night somewhere, no doubt about it, but I was sweating in the humid heat of a tropical prison. Apparently they had rules down here about killing demons. Go figure.

It was a dark and stormy night when the power went out. Oh dear. Did I charge my iPad. Yes, I did. I hope it doesn't stay off to long. The win continues to howl like the devil. Doesn't seem like it will let up. Blasted, looks like I might need to bust out the candles and a physical book. I hope nothing bad happens, as I bite my nails. Not a fan of dark and stormy nights.
ReplyDeleteIt was a dark and stormy night but there were far worse things to worry about than the worsening of the storm.
ReplyDeleteSounds kinda lame but it was the only thing that came to mind off the top of my head.

It was a dark and stormy night, so my dog and I cuddled in front of the fireplace and I read her HEART OF THE DEMON.
ReplyDelete"It was a dark and stormy night, I was almost asleep when I felt a strange presence surrounding me. I could feel it close, so close that I felt his breath ... His eyes stared at me so intensely that I felt I was dreaming a wild fantasy!

It was a dark and stormy night which meant the perfect time to read all snuggled up with my cats, a good book, and a lantern just in case the electricity goes out!
ReplyDeleteEveryone is so creative! Perhaps I'll be able to add more new-to-me authors to my reading list~
ReplyDeleteI was a dark and stormy night and my hubby cuddled closer so I would keep him warm. The dogs were all snuggled up to us too.
ReplyDeleteGreat jobs, y'all! :)
ReplyDeletethe wind was howling, the trees were crashing ... Sandy was back for another visit!
ReplyDelete...perfect for vampires to be out
ReplyDeleteYet I was out on the streets. The wind was making it difficult for me to walk as quickly as my racing heart willed me to walk. I tried to make it seem as though I was not aware of his presence, but I was with every fiber of my being. He was following me, had been for a while. My palms started to sweat and my breathing hitched... He was catching up with me.
ReplyDelete...but it was worth more than my life to miss the rendezvous. After all, Madame Guillotine was thirsting for blood.
ReplyDelete...and I was feeling mighty lonely.
ReplyDeleteIt was a dark and stormy night, lightin flashin, the wind rattling the windows with such force; the Fire burning in fireplace did nothing to warm me as fear gripped my heart... waiting just waiting to hear they got there in time.
ReplyDeleteIt was a dark and stormy night ... and the shadows falling all around my room took on shapes that were sure to haunt me. Sleep was not going to find me anytime soon.
ReplyDeleteIt was a dark and stormy night, and I was drowsing in bed, held in my husband's arms.
